Why did you disconnect the chat session?

Anyways here are the detailed instructions for connecting a DVD recorder to a TV

  1. The first step to connecting a DVD Recorder to your TV is to determine what type of connection you want to make between the TV source (Cable, Satellite, Antenna), the DVD Recorder and the TV. This is usually determined by the outputs and inputs available on the DVD Recorder and the TV.
  2. If you have an older TV that only accepts RF (Coaxial) input, then you would connect the RF output (a coaxial cable) from your TV source (in my case a Cable Box) to the RF input on the DVD Recorder. Then connect the RF output from the DVD Recorder to the RF input on the TV. This is the most basic (and lowest quality) option for connecting a DVD Recorder to any TV.
  3. If you want to use higher quality cables, then you may want to connect the TV Source (Cable and Satellite only, not Antenna) to the DVD Recorder using Composite, S-Video or Component video and audio cables.
  4. To use composite cables (also known as RCA, the yellow plug is video, the red and white plugs, audio): Plug in the composite cables to the RCA outputs on the back of your TV source and then plug in the composite cables to the RCA inputs of the DVD Recorder. Then connect the RCA outputs from the DVD Recorder to RCA inputs on the TV.
  5. To use S-Video and RCA audio cables: Plug in the S-Video cable to the S-Video output of the TV source. Plug in the S-Video cable to the S-Video input on the DVD Recorder. Next, connect the RCA audio cable to the output on the TV source and the input on the DVD Recorder. Finally, connect the S-Video cable and the RCA audio cable to the output on the DVD Recorder and the input on the TV.
  6. To use Component Video cables and RCA audio cables: Connect the Component Video cable and the red and white RCA audio cables to the outputs on the TV source and the inputs on the DVD Recorder. Next, connect the Component Video cable and RCA audio cable to the outputs on the DVD Recorder and the inputs on the TV.
  7. Now that the TV source (either Cable, Satellite or Antenna), the DVD Recorder and the TV are all connected, you need to configure everything to make sure that TV is coming through the DVD Recorder, for recording and viewing.
  8. Turn on the Cable Box or Satellite Receiver, TV and DVD Recorder.
  9. If you connected everything using the RF connections then the TV should be passing through the DVD Recorder and displaying Television on the TV screen. To record in this mode, you would need to tune to either channel 3 or 4 on the TV and then use the DVD Recorder TV Tuner to change channels and record.
  10. If you made connections using either Composite, S-Video or Component cables, then to view or record TV, two adjustments need to be made. First, the DVD Recorder needs to be tuned to the appropriate input, typically L1 or L3 for rear inputs and L2 for front inputs. Second, the TV also must be tuned to the proper input, on a TV usually Video 1 or Video 2.
  11. If you have a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound A/V Receiver you can connect either a Digital Optical Audio cable or Coaxial Digital Audio cable from the DVD Recorder to the receiver to listen to audio through the receiver.

I have a LG DVD and Video Set Recorder Model RC897T, I connected to my Vizio Smart TV using HDMI, when I play VCR or DVD I have audio but no video, any advice would be appreciated

The most likely issue is the output resolution on the RC397T. It could be set to 1080p (progressive) and needs to be 1080i (interlaced). I've seen this happen with other set top boxes. On the front panel of the DVD/VCR recorder, there is a button labeled Res. It's to the left of the USB port and to the right of the DVD/VCR selection button. Each press of the button will change to a different resolution: 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i for HDMI. (The resolution button also changes the component out resolution between 480i and 480p. You may need to step through these choices, as well, even if the component out isn't in use.)

Due to some issues with resetting the resolution, you may need to turn off the DVD recorder and possibly the TV after some of the resolution changes to see any video output change.

I hope this helps. The user manual for the RC897T is available from the support page: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-RC897T.BUSALLK . The manual link is on the right hand side of the page. My browser gives the direct link to the manual as https://gscs-b2c.lge.com/downloadFile?fileId=KROWM000185603.pdf . See page 60 for the front panel button descriptions.

How can I use my LG RC897T to record on to usb Flash drives ?

Record USB with LG RC897T

[email protected]
How can I use my LG RC897T to record on to usb Flash drives ?
LG RC897T I want to record onto USBs now. Which model of electronic item should I buy for the home?

To record on to a USB flash drive using an LG RC897T, you'll need to follow these steps:

Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port on the front of the LG RC897T.

Press the "Menu" button on the remote control and select "Recording" from the main menu.

Select "USB Recording" and then "Start" to begin recording. The recording will be saved on the USB flash drive.

As for purchasing an electronic item for home recording, there are several options available, such as digital voice recorders, video cameras, or even smartphones with recording capabilities. You could also consider purchasing an external audio capture device that can be connected to your RC897T to capture audio directly to your computer. It depends on the quality and format of the recording you're looking to make.

How can I transfer my vhs tapes to dvd from the LG RC185?

I think you use the "dubbing" button. I would strongly suggest reading the user manual for the specific step-by-step procedure as this is an integrated unit (see page 39 of the below link "Copying from VCR to DVD") - unfortunately LG's own site chooses no to use PDF and you need to install a plugin, so I suggest you download a PDF copy from doocument.com here: http://doocument.com/pdf/dvd-recorder-video-cassette-recorder-produktinfo-34042.pdf

RECORD BLOCKING SIGNALS DETECTED APPEARING ON SCREEN WHENEVER I TRY AND RECORD WITH RH7521W

I assume you are trying to record from a VCR tape to a dvd? It could be the copyright protection causing this issue. A little more information would be a great help. What are you trying to record? VCR Tapes. Are these home movies or are they retail movies. Macrovision prevents recording. If you are trying to record a television show, it could be the digital rights protection. do you have it connected to satellite or cable.

How do you record dvd to vhs and from vhs to dvd

For VHS to DVD, put the tape to dub in the VHS slot and a blank DVD in the DVD tray. Make sure the DVD is compatible with the DVD recorder (see the recommended disc list) and is unfinalized if you are using a R/W disc. Close the tray. Set the unit to VCR mode with the DVD/VCR button. Advance the tape to the place that you want the recording to start. Then press the Dubbing button (either on the remote or the unit itself). Select the recording mode (SP, LP etc), highlight Dubbing then press Enter or Dubbing. Press Stop to interrupt the recording.

For DVD to VHS, put a blank tape in the VCR (make sure the protection tab has not been broken off) and the DVD to duplicate in the DVD tray and close the tray. Put the unit in DVD mode by pressing the DVD/VCR button. Find the point at which you want to start recording the DVD. Again press Dubbing and set up the recording mode and highlight Dubbing and press Enter or Dubbing.

Note that copyprotected content can not be recorded.

The manual for this recorder is on the right side of the page here: http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/video/LG-dvd-recorder-RC897T.jsp . See page 48 for the screen captures of setting the recording mode part of the dubbing procedure.

I hope this helps.

I have an LG Model: RC897T. Video: the picture records fine but the audio is garbled and scratchy. How can I fix?

If you have some alcohol and swabs...good long ones other wise take cover off and clean the audio head which is just to the side of the video head. Might as well clean that one too. Do not use any abrasives though.
