Comtrend wireless ADSL 2+ - #CT5361T and a Belkin play N-600 wireless dual band N router- #F7D8302-1000 We have two labtops wireless ,and three pcs wired and a Xbox 360 kinnect ,and a tivo dvr .would like to know how to hookup and setup details please.I have manuals but all are confusing.
Basically on the router's settings you have to make its connection on the internet and enable the wireless port ..and select the security for it ..
To get to th settings you have to connect teh router with the internet cable in the separate port (called internet ) ..and one of the computer in the first wired port ..
on the LAN card of the computer select under the tcp/ip protocol to assign an automatic ip address ..and it will be connected with the router ..for the moment ..
In the browser of this computer ..type http://and the IP address of the router ..(it is written on the back on that sticker ...usually is something like 192.168.1.1. or so ..
once you have typed this in the browser and hit Ok (enter) ..will show you the log in for router's settings ..type in the word admin for each ..and see if it lets you in the settings ..if not ..take a look in the manual and see teh correct user and password..for this model ..
Than once inside ..first thing to do is select the DHCP...basically same way as you used to configure for the tcp/ip in the computer ..If your provider uses the automatic ip address assigning ..select the same here ..and leave them blank ..It will take the ip addresses and the server (dns) from the modem ..
if you have a static Ip connection type ..select static ip ..and insert the ip address and the subnet mask and default gateway ..and the dns servers ..just like the ones from your isp ..
click on the save ..and it will have the connection to the internet ..
if you have your mack address on the isp ..it may not let you connect with the mac address of the router ..so its best to use for settings the same pc you used on the isp ..as admin ..and just under mac address select clone mac..this way your have no issues with this ..
After this were done ..select the range of Ip addresses that your router will assign ..(usually 100 up from the router Ip ..ex from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.100 ..This setting is made automatically usually ..and these will be the range for teh ip-es for your computers when they will be connected wired..
Last ..select the wireless..enable it ..select the band..(automatic is best if you do not know what you are doing ) ..and than under select wep security ..if you want to insert a password..enable the security ..and click one password instance ..and select one ...as is instructed..and save //
This will be the one used for wireless connection ..You may leave it without password and just enable and select the band...cause you already have enough wireless connections and it may get tricky to use..
let me know if you don't understand something from these ..
For each step ..you have additional info in the manual ...and I believe once you understand the general way ..you will understand what they are talking about ..
Please do not forget to rat e or give testimonial if this helps ...have a nice day !
