The problem began with a message saying that I had to wait, that the printer was undergoing maintenance. After a while I rebooted and when I tried to start up my MP 830 program ... nothing happened. What gives? everything was running smooth a few minutes before. I had done several scans OK. Thanks for your help

Uninstall the software and reinstall. Use an ethernet cable and try scanning. If that does not work then your scanner feature has a problem. Probably very expensive so I suggest you go to the Epson site and look under Clearance. New/Refurbished have a 1 year warranty, replacements are quick and free shipping both ways. A All-In-One is $45 shipped, the ink costs more than that. Check this website for CISS system which saves lots of money.
