audio and video work on two different circuits in the tv. that is why you can get audio with out video and the other way around or sometimes when you watch the tv the speech is not in synch with the mouth movements
To make the decision to repair or junk take it to a tv repair shop and get a quote first and compare that to the price of a new item
have you tried pressing mute botton or turning volume up ? also is all leads in properly as they can come loose and stop sounds sometimes ( happens a lot on scart leads )
If it's a big tv it can just take a little while to power up, I've found that pushing channel up button switches on tv quicker but I've no idea why.
Unless you want to save power you should only be switching tv to standby, there will still be a light on the tv somewhere, blue or red it varies. TV's turn on much faster from standby than completely off.
First, You cannot resync the remote, Second the IR sensor may be bad on the tv and third, the Digital bd may be bad. The IR sensor connects directly to the Digital bd which is the brains of the tv. Also, there maybe a stuck button on the remote or the buttons on the tv.
its the power pack in the tv that has gone out...contact the manufacturer for either the part to replace it your self or for a technician to repair it.
