I have a Bravia KDL-40V2500 that was purchased in March 2007. After it was about a year year old (jut out of warranty) the left half of the picture will blur with vertical streaks about once a week. After turning it off then back on, the left half of the screen is solid white. If I leave it off overnight it will come back on and may work for another week, then while watching it will do it again. Sometimes after this has happened it will clear back up while watching. It is just the left half of the screen just like you had drawn a line vetically down the middle of the screen. Any suggestions?
The panel or TCON board has failed, the solution is the same replace the panel. Not worth the cost, get a new TV
Glad you have the extended warranty. Go easy on the tech, as they are not allowed to just replace parts without actually seeing the problem, especially in the case where a very expensive part (like an LCD panel) is involved. I could be more sure of my diagnosis with a picture of the problem. There is a small chance it could be a video process problem, but usually that will not affect half the screen as you have described. God luck in getting your repairs done, I hope it works out for you.

Thank you for the TCON board suggestion.
Fortunately I have an extended warranty on the TV, however it will not quit when I want it to so that the repair company can see what is happening. I will pass along your suggestion to the repairman. Hopefully it quit completely so the problem can be found.
