The freezer still freezes, but the fridge is barely cold. It's an older fridge, but was working great then all of a sudden the fridge is not getting very cold

the thermostat isn't cycling because it's to cold in the garrage, the machine isn't calling for cold air because the garrage is so cold so the fridge isn't gonna run until the temperature starts to get warm and then the fridge will start again to keep it cold.put some heat in the garrage and it will run fine
i take it the unit is frost free you need to replace the defrost element in the freezer whats happening is your freezer sends cold air through small holes to the fridge compartment but when the freezer cant self defrost those holes freeze over thus no cold air into the fridge compartment get a tech in to check the element shoulnt cost more than $ 80.00
As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
Generaly the control board controls everything sometimes you have a bad thermister GE has a help line I beleive it costs 20.00 bucks but you will need a meter and know how to use it and they willl talk you thru the repair .
I would try defrosting first. If no difference, or worse then you may have a refrigerant leak. You could always try setting back to the original setting. Hope this helps.

It's weird that the fridge was working fine and then suddenly wasn't working. Mine has been growing gradually warmer and warmer over the last few months. My fridge is also older, so I think I won't bother having it repaired. Instead, I'll look at some new appliances. https://www.shopprisco.com/by-category/l...
