Dave, are you still having the problem?

  • dave allen Dec 02, 2011

I am still having the problem. Ernesto, thank you for the video links but my problem is neither the motor nor electrical.

If I walk very softly there's no noise, but if I take a normal step on the treadmill there's a banging noise coming from under the tread as if something needs to be tightened or as if a screw came out completely and something is just hanging. I'm reluctant to take the deck apart since it was shipped to me in one piece. Any advice?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

If it sounds like metal rotating on metal then it could be roller bearings or motor bearings. Its best to have the treadmill work carried out by a technician in the workshop. Most of the time the bearings will have to be pressed out and the new ones pressed in.

I called customer service and we narrowed it down to the Drive Roller. Although we've only had the treadmill for 2 years the bearings have worn down.

Dave, the noise you are having is the walk board( the black wood board under the walk belt), is supported under the treadmill by two rubber isolators. You have either one or both worn out. You should have a black, ground up rubber substance under the front of the walk belt. This is the left overs from the isolator. I can get you the part numbers for the isolator if you agree by looking at the isolator. The last person that tried to help you must not be familiar with your problem. Get back with me after you lift up the treadmill into the stow/storage possition. Look at the front corners where the walkboard hooks to the frame, and you will see what holds the walkboard to the steel frame.

Matt, how can you see if the isolators are warn down?

Dave there are two isolators at the front corners of the walk board. The floor under the treadmill should have black rubber shavings that look like dust. If not he screws that attach the bushing/isolators could have fallen out or as stripped and still in there.
Dave, get me the model number and i will get you a picture of them.

Sounds like the diverter door is bound up causing the motor to bog down under load. You'll need a manual for that job. It's a pain in the rear to get to.

I hav a knocking noise under the hood of my jeep cherokee. I recently had the upper ball joints replaced and the knocking stop for a while and now its back full force. The noise sounds like its coming...

Knocking in the engine varies from simple failure to detonate to you are about to throw a rod. This is something that can be difficult to diagnose and if misdiagnosed, costly to repair. I would take that in to a mechanic as soon as possible. Barring that, I would check all your spark plugs.

Banging noise when you drive

This is a hard problem to describe, I know, and I will toss out a few possibilities. If the noise occurs when the car is accelerating, it can be motor mounts, or carriage mounts on front-wheel drive vehicles. Transmissions can bang into gear. Drive shaft u-joints can bang before they fail. C-V joints in front wheel or 4 wheel drive units can bang when worn out.

The exhaust system can break loose and bang on the frame. Brake calipers can rock in their mounts and transmit sound. Tie-rod ends can make a knocking noise on every bump you hit. There were recalls on gas tank straps for some Ford made units, so a loose gas tank can bang.
