My tv turns on, after about 2 minutes i loose the picture and the sound, after about 2 mintues, it will come back on., this just continues going on and off. the tv was mfg. in april 2006. thanks, harold
It works!! First i took off the front panel. Just check your manual
for instructions, very easy to do. If you do not have a manual just
down load one from google.. The instruction are easy to follow. The
screw they have you loosen with a alan wrench is attached to the
plastic, so you do not have to worry about dropping it inside the tv.
Removing the lamp was simple. once out you will notice on either side
are two small mesh screens. One of mine was 80% blocked with dust, the
other side was only 30-40% covered. I used a vacuum to remove the
blockage, i did not want the dust and dirt to go inside the bulb. i
then cleaned all around the lamp. Reinstalled, and we are go to go.
The kids are happy and i am happier since my wife not be buying a new
TV.
total cost of repair $.00
time required to fix, less than 15 minutes.
Also when my TV was loosing sound and picture and then return. I did
turn off my TV, then turned on. I nothiced a red blinking light. Mine
flashed 5 times. After some reserch, 5 times is video related, bulb or
video board. google red flashing light with the model you have and you
will find what all the codes mean.
So if yours is flashing 5 times try the above, it might work for you and it is well worth the time before you call a tech and drops hundreds of dollars.
hope this helps.
I had exactly the same problem. I also suspected a power supply problem. After some research I bought a new lamp for it (even though I was sceptical that this would work) It is extremely easy to change the only tool you need is an allen key wrench (for 1 of the 4 fasteners) Anyway it worked a charm and I realized my picture had been gradually dimming for some time. Haven't had a problem since.
I would hazzard a guess and say you either have dry solder joints on your power supply board or a leaking/faulty capacitor and or diode. If this is not the problem then I think the problem lies on the picture frame board or the line output board either dry solder joints or faulty components or a faulty line output transformer. Hope this helps.

hello, and thanks. when i first turn the tv on, the green light blinks until it gets a picture. then stays a steady green, even while the picture and sound is going on and off. no, blinking lights. thanks, harold
The tv comes on with picture and sound, then, depending on time of day and how long it was used during the day (as it is used during the day, the more frequent the occurances), the picture will go black with no sound, but will return after a few minutes.
While your tv is doing all of this is the standby light flashing a certain number of times?
