Hi Megan,
I appreciate you adding me to your list of contacts and asking me to help you with your problem.
However, I don't know if I can be much help from here. Noises can be very difficult to diagnose when you actually have the vehicle in front of you. All I can tell you for sure is that the noise you are hearing is not normal and if it happens only when you apply the brakes, then it is most definately brake-related. I have had some vehicles making noised as you described because of broken brake hardware. I have had some with similar customer complaints that have had loose or missing caliper mounting pins. Then I have had some that the problem was not the brakes at all, but rather lower control arm bushings that were coming apart and applying the brake was making the entire front suspension shift and make a loud popping noise.
My professional advice is to take it by a professional auto repair shop and have one of the technicians drive the vehicle. They may be able to give you some idea of what is going on just by hearing and/or "feeling" the noise themseves. Then again, they may tell you that the wheels need to be removed for a full brake and suspension inspection before they can tell you anything.
I wish I had a more "cut-and-dry" answer for you, but I am afraid that is pretty much impossible at this point.
Good luck,
Dave (dttech)
aw ok thank u..i mean its scary to drive sounds like the wheel or something is gonna fall off.. im just to scared to drive it to a shop. but i think im just gonna have too. but thank u for the info. :)
Well, I don't mean to state the obvious, but if you are scared of it and you think the vehicle may not be safe to drive, that is what tow trucks were made for.
If you do not have AAA, it would be a good idea to subscribe to it. I am a professional mechanic and I subsribe to AAA for both myself and for my wife's car. I can get a tow for up to 200 miles for FREE. For both my wife and myself, we are paying only $69 (US) per year.....They even bailed me out when I was on vacation and I broke a key off in the ignition. They sent a locksmith who repaired my ignition lock and made two new keys at no cost to me....well worth the anual fee!
