I can't enter service mode on my Samsung LE40R72BDX

My plug and play options for my Samsung TV (DTV source) are ghosted. I've read the suggestions to get to the service menu and reset the TV to factory defaults. I've pressed info, menu, mute then power (in sequence not all held down at once) from standby mode. The TV clicks on but then does not go to any new menu. The mute, 1, 8, 2, then power but my TV comes on as soon as I press 1. Any further ideas will be much appreciated.

Solution that worked for me:

Beware: Although the process should be safe, it technically voids your warranty.

Enter the service menu:
1 - turn of tv with remote
2 - press and release in the following order on the remote: Info, Menu, Mute. Make sure remote is pointing at the tv
3 - turn on the tv from the remote
4 - you will see the service menu. using the down arrow on the remote select the Reset option. Using the right arrow button at this point will do a hard reset.
5 - Wait a few seconds, turn TV on
6 - you will have to rescan analogue and digital channel but it should be working now.

Set TV to standby and press Info, menu, mute then power. The set should turn on with the service menu available scroll down until you select reset press right hand arrow next to enter and then enter. TV will turn off. When switched on it goes into Plug and Play mode to reset the analogue and digital tuner. Allow a full reset then you should be ok.

just spoke to Samsung support and it turns out that the freeview tuner had froze and needed resetting. To do this put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu. Press the 'down arrow' untill you've highlighted option 12 - 'reset' and then press the 'right arrow' to enter the option. TV will turn off and when you turn back on it will start in 'plug & play' mode as if new. Set the time and country options and then it will perform a complete scan. I've just retuned mine and all back to normal. Hoorah!!!! :-)

SOURCE: need help

ensure the tv is in analogue mode, not dtv and turn it off. with the remote: press info then, menu, then mute then power. these buttons need to be pressed sequentially not all at the same time and in quick succession. a menu will appear on the tv. navigate to the reset option and press the left arrow key on the remote (or press the enter/ok button) the tv will reset itself and turn off. turn the tv back on & it'll re tune all its channels. DTV should be working again.

The above solution works brilliantly, but be warned, SAMSUNG do not recommend untrained people access this set up menu. Incautious use can screw up system totally. They claim.

To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. NB: You can't enter the serice mode; unless you haven,t its original remote control. Never try to enter the service mode, using a universal remote control.

To reset it, you have to enter its service mode option. To get it, you have to download its repair manual. User manual will not have this detail. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device at its search box and press "Enter".

The brand name Samsung is in the middle of the screen. I wish to remove it and with no manual I do not know what to do. Also there are other messages fliping on and off the screen too.

Method 1

To remove your TV from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Volume + button on the side panel of your TV. If your TV does not have a side panel, press the Volume button on the front panel. The TV displays the volume bar.
  2. With the volume bar displayed on the screen immediately press and hold the MENU button on the side panel of your TV for about seven seconds. Again, if your TV does not have a side panel, press the MENU button on the front panel. If Dynamic or Dynamic Mode is displayed on the screen, your TV has been removed from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode.

Note: You may want to press the INFO button on your remote again to confirm you TV is no longer in Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode.

Method 2
  1. Press the Volume button on your remote.

Method 3
  1. Change your TV to the "TV" source. The TV source is the coax (RF) source. It does not matter if you do not have anything connected to this source.
  2. Press the MENU button.
  3. Use the ??² or ??¼ button to select the "Setup" portion of the menu, and then press the ENTER button.
  4. setup%20indicated.jpg

Note: On many TVs the menu sections name is displayed on the left side of the menu and sideways.

  1. The "Plug & Play" option should be highlighted if it is not use the ??² or ??¼ arrow to select "Plug & Play" option, and then press ENTER.
  2. Note: If the "Plug & Play" option is grayed out and can't be selected this means that you are not on the TV (Coax (RF)) source. Please return to step 1.

  1. Follow the on screen instructions. When the options comes up select "Home" instead of "Shop".
  2. Finish going through the plug and play option and your TV will no longer be in Shop Mode or Store Demo.
