Question about Toshiba 50HDX82 50" Rear Projection Television

Toshiba 50HDX82 50 in. Rear Projection Television-HDMI to my TV?

I have Toshiba 50HDX82 (Projection TV) which does not have HDMI input on the back but has HD color stream (5 jacks). I bought a new blu-ray player which has only HDMI output on the back. I bought a cable HDMI to analog/HD color stream (5 jacks). But when I connected the blu-ray player with my TV it did not get any picture through this cable. Does anyone know if my TV converts the HDMI signals itself or Do I need to get a converter box? And how much will it cost, since my blu-ray is only $40 and wont be a good idea to pay a whole lot for the converter. Also, let me know if any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

    Thank you for your response.
I am confused, my TV does not have any VGA input. It has 3 RCA, 5 HD color stream (Y,Pb, Pr) and DVI/HDCP in. I am not sure if this VGA would work with it.
    Please advice.
    Thanks.

    Thank you for your responses.
I have tried a cable HDMI to DVI, which worked fine with my TV but the only issue is, DVI can only receive video signals. Does anyone have idea, where I can get a cable with one end HDMI and another end DVI + 2 audio (red & white)?
    Thanks.

Does anyone know, If I get a simple HDMI to RCA (3 wires) cable and will it work without any converter in the middle (from my blu-ray player to TV directly)?

  • Pratik Solanki Dec 19, 2011

    Thank you J. Millmack,
But that was my issue, my blu-ray player does not have any other output except one HDMI output, nothing else.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Use the hdmi to dvi converter this is for video only. use the dvd players analog audio out R- L, TV has to have an audio input for the dvi port.

Hmm, I have not worked with this model of TV. All I can ask, if, you pressed input on the remote to receive the connection you completed? And be extra careful, that you put each cable connection exactly where the belong. Thanks for asking me.Matt of Martins TV.

It is best you can get a HDMI to VGA convertor which is not very expensive and can solve the issue. Please visit the nearest electronic store and get one that suits with the least expense.check this link for types of converters.

Hello
You have to buy one converter box. Your TV does not accept or process HDMI signals.

    Hello
According to the description you have given nere about your tV, It has Y,Pb & Pr inputs to which the TV can accept component video IN. Y=stands for Luminance, Pb=stands for Red colour inofrmation and Pr=stands for Blue colour information. Green colour is decoded inside the circuits of the TV, as we fed it with Re,Blue and Luminance signals.
Computer outputs VGA signal [Video Graphics Arrey]. There are TVs now, that can process this VGA signal inside it, and they will have built in citcuits to process VGA input we fed into.
It is best for you to buy one VGA to Component Video Output converter, and connect it in between compter and your TV, and select the input of your TV to appropirate input selection. You will also need a component video cable too to connect this converter to TV, and a VGA cable to connect the converter to computer. I thinks that I'm clear. OK.

    Sorry
I've made a mistake in typing the tyes of component video. Y=stands for Luminance signal, Pb=stands for Blue colour information and Pr=stands for Red colour information. OK

My 52" Toshiba DLP just dropped an HDMI connection... There are two connectors on the back, both have worked fine until just now when one disappeared from the inputs menu on the screen.

Hi,
I'm not sure about your tv model as question post shows it is Toshiba 52HM84 that has one HDMI input at rear and you said 3 HDMI inputs in your tv.
Please unplug tv from wall socket for minute or so to get it reset, replug back in, turn it On and check its HDMI inputs appear or not.
Also check for Reset option in Menu for factory default settings that can also help you to get back disappeared HDMI inputs.
If all that does not solve the issue then it seems hardware problem with HDMI circuit board and tv repairman is needed for visual check to get it fix.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

I would suggest to leave your directtv hd/dvr box connected the way It is.
The HD Colorstream 1input on your TV should work just fine.
This TV does not have an HDMI input but you can buy an adapter and connect to DVI/HDCP IN and that might be able to get 1080i video resolution on your TV.

The Samsung Television has 3 HDMI inputs, You would connect an HDMI cable from the Cable box to your television and go into a menu on the television to select the appropriate HDMI input.

New cable boxes should have the HDMI connection.

Most Flat screen televisions I've seen have an input button on the television itself. Pushing it should allow you to switch between inputs.
