Won't turn on

I have an Emerson Flat screen TV that won't turn on. When I press the power button it turns on for a split second and then sounds like its turned off again. No picture comes up at all. I have the same problem with my 32". I purchased my tv in March 2008. about two months ago when I came home to turn my tv on, it would not turn on. I unplugged the tv for 30 mins. Tried turning it on and nothing happened. I unplugged it for days and tried it again and it worked. One the tv was turned off it would not come back on. If you know what is causing this problem please help.

My tv won't turn on and the standby light isn't on. I've unplugged it and plugged it back in and it still won't come on.

Same thing with my emerson 32.. Its turns on and shuts right back off... TV is only six months old..

  • faith73181 Dec 03, 2008

yep, mine is only 6 months old and won't turn on. I dont even see why they don't just recall it because its an obvious manufacture defect.

Buyer beware! Do not purchase ANY Emerson 32" (or any Emersons) LCD televisions. Not only is it common for the power to die on them within the first year, the customer support is horrendous. (You have to go through Funai) I've had my tv for a little over a year. 2 Months past the warranty and they refused to do anything for me, even with this being a reocurring common problem. I'm curious as to what the consumer can do to strike back against these high priced, big ticket items being made so poorly. Why is there not a recall and why are these companies not willing to rectify the situation to save their reputation???

I have the same problem. I went to turn my 32 in lcd flat screen tv on and it turned on but went right back off and when i called Fungi they said they will fix the part but i have to pay labor which is not right and i brought the tv in Feb of this year its not even a year old.

  • anawrecksher Jan 11, 2009

Same exact problem. I have a 32" Emerson. My warranty ran out 2 months ago. I was playing a video game and right in the middle of it the tv just shut off. I thought I accidentally sat on the remote or something, but nope. The tv won't turn on, and neither the standby or power light will turn on. I tried unplugging it for hours, no luck. I called customer service and they won't do anything for me. I just bought the tv a year and 2 months ago, and I will NEVER buy another Emerson product ever again. What a piece of ****!!!!

  • rhrose Jan 15, 2009

Emerson 32" LCD sucks! I also bought mine in March 2008 and two months after Wal-Mart's warranty expired, it shut itself off and wouldn't come back on! Had it repaired and as of yesterday, it is doing the same thing! This is ****! Has anyone gotten a replacement tv from the manufacturer?

I have had my 32" Emerson for 14 months. When you turn it on, it comes on for a split second and goes right back off. I believe this to be a manufacturers defect. There are to many people that this has happened to. What can we do about this? any Ideas?

SOURCE: 32" vizio won't turn on

Hello; I am John at J D Electronics in Poland, Maine. I have now repaired 81 of this same model in my shop or PCB mail in's. The set may be dead always or work intermittently. There are 2 versions of this piece of junk, but I have only seen this one. They all have 2 to 7 capacitors that fail on the power supply board that are just above that red chopper transformer. The are labeled C233 and C234 and others. These first 2 are 3300 ufd at 10 volts and 105 C temp rating. You can buy these for about $1 each from Digi-Key Electronics plus $12 shipping. There are some cautions worth mentioning. Make sure the set has been unplugged for a day or more before starting the disassembling. It is VERY important to keep the set face down on a soft surface when doing ANY work on the set. This crappy designed set has a glass faceplate that will fall down if you don't have it face down when all the back screws are removed and it is very hard to put it back into position if it falls. The bottom plastic speaker strip has a million screws to remove both from the bottom edge. Then take out all the screws for the metal back and unplug the speakers. The connector wires to the speakers will not just pull off without you pressing on a side release pin for each of the 4 wire- Stupid design again!. If you are not able to solder or test these caps , you can send the board to me with $46.00 to replace and/or test up to 7 caps this includes USPS Parcel Post return shipping. I accept only cash or USA postal MO. There is NO Warranty on this repair. It is a better than 80% chance this will fix your set. You must call me first at 207 998 5687 EST 9-5 only. Good Luck! John

SOURCE: Can't see the top or bottom of screen on my emerson 32" Flat Scre

If it's like mine, there should be a screen mode button on your remote. Keep pressing it to change to different settings.

I succeeded is using the DirectTV remote control for the Emerson 42" plasma TV, by using a Samsung code. On my TV, was 10060. If this one does not work, there are a bunch of others that might work. Good luck

Tv won,t come on makes beeping noise

Try unplugging from outlet for fifteen seconds. Press the power button for a few seconds "before" plugging back in. Now plug back into the wall outlet and try turning it on to see if this reset the TV's settings.

Calm down, Calm down! Your power supply board is at fault. On the power supply, you have a bad diode. Location of this diode is D639. Replace it with an NTE 5087A. Thanks for asking, Matt of Martins TV Repair.

Not making it on or out of standby---first place to look is the power supply for signs of damage or puffed up filter caps there.

My tv won't turn on

If the screen is damaged/shattered you are done. Not worth the cost of the part or labor.

If something else use the "make a comment button" on this page to let me know.

My Dish 5.0 IR remote won't program to my new TV, it's an Emerson, the model number on the back is- LC320EMXF. I've tried holding the TV button until all the top lights flashed and then...

You were attempting to perform a power scan initially. The second procedure is manually attempting to address the remote to your TV. I will give you the procedures again so you can try one more time. Emerson TV is one brand we have a low percentage of success getting our remotes to work. If it still doesn't work, we could try replacing the remote.

TV code: 623, 667, 666, 233, 516, 537, 544, 642, 655, 699, 000, 999, 888, and 720.

Remotes: Basic (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for six seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
  4. Press #. Note: The LED will flash three times.
  5. Test functionality with the TV.
  6. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.
Remote Power Scan: Basic Remote (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for six seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Press and release the red TV Power button.
  4. Press and release the Up or Down Arrow on the remote until the television turns off once every second.
  5. After the television turns off, press and release the # button.
  6. Test functionality with the TV.
  7. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.
