SOURCE: OSD Message Panasonic PT-50LC14 Air Filter Needs Cleaning

I had the same problem and the stupid tv would shut off after 1 minute. We opened the silver front panel , took the bulb out cleaned it, took the cover off the grey box to the right and very carefully vaccumed the filter and wiped it off with a microfiber cloth. It works great now!!! Make sure you unplug your tv before messing with it.

SOURCE: tv will not power up Panasonic PT-50LC14

ok guy's i have the same tv and simular problems, first check the lamp light located next to the sd disk input (on the front). if it's not blinking then 2 things 1) more than likely it's the lamp if you haven't replaced it by now your one of the lucky ones, you can find them online for around $100, in which i paid over $300 for two differnt bulbs. the warrent only covers 1 bulb. 2) this happens to me once in a while try unplugging it let it set for a minute or two, replug it back in and try it again. but it depends if the light shines yellow (orange) and blinks twice, then try it again. you kinda have it cycle through and that should work. if not then unplug the unit, then take off the front cover and use a philips screwdriver remover the bulb (located behind the cover in the front) then i highly recomend doing this on a weekend pull out the shop vac and **** out the dust inside the lamp housing, then take off the back housing along with the left side speaker and first clean it out with a rag, then go through it with the shop vac. basically if dust builds up the unit will trap the heat and that it's why it will overheat and shut down.

Should I replace my lamp for my Panasonic 1080i htd t.v. pt-50LC14

Replacing a lamp won't work. There is not even one lamp in your TV. I'm afraid the lightening has done more damage than can be repaired. Even when some tech manages to repair te error, the TV can have the next error in days or weeks.
Try reading something about ESD. Electro Static Discharge and what it does to electronics. Electrostatic discharge

Turned itself off. I turned it back on and the green power light blinks for awhile then blinks red for awhile.no picture or sound

Get rid of this TV. Had one and replaced the bulb and light engine many times. Just buy a Samsung or Vizio 50+ inch instead and be very happy. Those Panasonic projection TV's were terrible. You will find a 50 inch Vizio for around $500 bucks and it will blow your mind how great the picture looks.

Panasonic TV shuts off after a couple minutes

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

The Power Light is Red

yeah, should stay red when unit is turned off, indicating there's power but it's doing nothing.

Per user manual:
Solid red - power off (standby mode)
blinking red - power off (now cooling)
blinking green - power on (preparing to light lamp)
solid green - power on

Pt-50lc14 50in.

I went ahead opened the back cover and surprisingly noticed it's pretty dirty inside after 2.5 years of usage, and there is a thermal fuse to protect the ballast power supply. Spend 99 cents replaced the thermal fuse and the TV came back alive. I am surprised that it's such simple to fix the problem vs many others frustration.

LCD TV is more fragile than the traditional TV as it uses expensive HID lamp. So the cooling system inside is very critical to prolong the lifetime of the lamp and the special power supply. Dirt collect inside is probably the major cause to degrade the cooling system. Make sure you clean them (two fans and a lens) whenever you have a chance.
