Fisher Paykel washer GWL15

Model # GWL15

purchased 12/07 at Lowes

problem...clothes streaked with gray dirt after washing...not all clothes (10-40% of the load is streaked depending on what I don't know). Not every load is effected. Gray dirt does not scrap off, but it comes off if I rewash the clothes...completely defeating the entire purpose of doing laundry in the first place!

I have noticed this same problem and wonder if it because my FP washer wasn't draining properly and dirty water couldn't get out. See my post on "eco smart won't drain, smells hot". I found one of my husband's socks when I removed the black motor/white plastic housing on bottom of washer. tip washer back and you'll see this electric motor. My post tells how to remove it. then you can look into that small space and see if there is something plugging it.

I am waiting on my replacemt motor, and hoping all the dirty streaks are gone. the water I drained out after i removed the sock was really grimy and gritty with dirt. I'm sure the sock has been holding a lot of junk in the bottom of the tub and it would end up on clothes during spin cycle. My issue has been going on for a few weeks and then the motor finally smoked which led to the sock discovery!

Mildew smell, gray streaks, won't drain, puddles on floor, burnt motor smell

I have had various issues with my fisher paykel top loader (GWL10US) and didn't realize they were all due to a plugged drain. I had mildew smell from excess water that never drained, gray streaks on clothes from dirt and residue that remained in tub, water left in tub and wet clothes after spin cycle, puddles on floor, and finally it wouldn't drain at all and the motor smelled hot/burned out.

This was all caused by a sock that got in between the outer/inner tub and went to the lowest part of the drain and finally blocked things so a leak was created and water dripped into the motor and caused a burn out.

To repair, bail water out of washer and unplug the washer. Tip machine back so you can see the motor/white plastic housing unit (pump) on bottom of washer. Where this unit attaches to the bottom of the washer, look for a clip/tab that you can pull with your finger (like a childproof cap) and twist the unit off the machine and unplug the connectors (there are 2). Once this unit is removed, you will see a quarter-sized hole into the bottom of the wash tub. this is where i found the elusive SOCK and pulled it through the hole.

When you order the "pump" it comes as one unit--motor and white plastic--and you twist it back onto the machine and plug in the connectors.

Dirt left in creases after washing clothes. Clothes never look clean

Too many clothes in the load , if it says 5lb then that is the maximum you should fill it with otherwise the clothes do not seperate as they are being agitated

Also

Not enough detergent (Try the old powder types)

Hard Water area (Use a small amount of Washing Soda)

Water level too low , use add water button if fitted

Fisher Paykel washing machine model # GWL15 drips

Hi Dale..
It sounds like you have a leaky inlet valve assembly. The part number is 421029P and is easy to replace. You can get one here:

I am getting grey marks on my light colored clothing. I have a Fisher & Paykel topload washer.

THE PROBLEM IS THE AMOUNT OF DETERGENT YOU ARE USING.YOU NEED TO BE USING HE OR HIGH EFFECIENT DETERGENT. THIS MACHINE USES MUCH LESS WATER THAN YOUR VERAGE TOP LOADER.

Intuitive Eco

Would suggest doing a full hot empty load, using bleach according to bottle instructions. It sounds like a build up of scum from washing powder, fibre from clothing etc. Can also be caused by overuse of fabric conditioner.
