When I put hdmi cable in ever different port and select different hdmi ports and it wont find the win7 lap top. I tired the new sparkle 2.60r usb stick from sony and I put ubs stick in service ubs port and turn set on and no update, no loading bar. Does it need the linux boot files if so what other models are same compatibility and share share these files and patch? The original soft ware patch was 2.60 do I need that one clue less?

I have a Sony Bravia KDL 40S 2000 (lcd tv - mfg 06') The power goes into standby which I know could be several things but my question is this....I'm into the set only $100 so far. Is there some pointers you can tell me to look for with the once I remove the case for a visual look see? I don't want to invest another $100 to find out it's a $400 fix....any info would be great b4 I chuck it. (FYI-I am mech. inclined so I wont use info like an idiot.) Thx - Dan Rathburn

Hi,
Sounds like there is a short on the power board or the power board has gone faulty.
Look on the power board to see if any of the capacitors are bulged or if there are any other components burnt out.
The TV is going into protect mode because of an over current, which points to a short on the board or a component has gone short circuit.
Thanks

Installing a new software update will this issue. All you need is a compatible USB flash drive. Go to support on Sony.com. Look up your tv model and if there is an update, just follow the instructions to install it yourself. I have a KDL-46S5100 and this worked great. The download and instructions page I used was : http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=4769#install

I have a Sony Bravia model KDL-46s5100 that had the same problem. All HDMI ports stopped working. I don't know why this works but unplug the TV for about 30 sec, then plug it back in and hold down the power button on the tv for 10 seconds. Like I said I don't know why this works but it worked for me. Good luck.
