Need help to make a recovery on my comptuter Elitebook 2530p

U certainly do need help because HP will not do squat for you if your unit is out of warranty. They are the worst company for customer service.

If you cannot hit F11 then you cannot go to the recovery partition if there was one there initially. Unless you made some recovery disks with some other software you are SOL and about all you can do at this juncture is wipe the drive and reload it with the OS of your choice that is compatible with your unit.

Code Error0x0000073

found this on net
STOP: 0x00000073 (parameter, parameter, parameter, parameter) CONFIG_LIST_FAILED
Explanation: This is a Windows 2000 Executive character-mode STOP message. It indicates the system configuration link list failed. One of the core system hives is corrupted or unreadable, or some critical Registry keys and values are not present.
User Action: If this is the first time you have booted after installing new hardware, remove the hardware and boot again. Check the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List to verify that the hardware and its drivers are compatible with Windows 2000. For information about the hardware, contact the supplier. If you are installing Windows 2000 for the first time, check the Windows 2000 system requirements, including the amount of RAM and disk space required to load the operating system. Also, check the Hardware Compatibility List to verify that the system can run Windows 2000. If Windows 2000 is loaded and no new hardware has been installed, reboot with recovery options set to create a dump file. If the message continues to appear, select the Last Known Good option when you reboot. If there is no Last Known Good configuration, try using the Emergency Repair Disk. If you do not have an Emergency Repair Disk, contact your technical support group.

Stop c0000218

Which operating system ????
If you've just installed Windows XP on your desktop and you've received the following error "STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure" you're not alone.
This is a known issue with XP that can arise from incompatible hardware being installed with XP or, in the worst-case scenario, from a faulty hard disk.
Luckily, it is fairly simple to figure out if your disk needs to be replaced or if a software fix is enough to solve the problem.

Check if your hardware is compatible with Windows XP.
You can find compatibility information at the official Microsoft marketplace website (see Below).
http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/
Use the recovery system if your hardware is compatible but is still not working. You can access the recovery console by simply putting in your Windows XP CD before booting your computer.
You will be asked whether you want to "Repair or Recover.
" Simply press the "R" key.

Type in your administrator password.
(You must have admin access to use this option.)

Choose to use the "chkdsk" command line, which will allow you to check your disk.
Once in the chkdsk use the "chkdsk /r" command to check your hard disks for errors.
Press "Enter" to start the disk check.

Type in "chkdsk /f". If any errors are found this will allow your computer to attempt a fix of the broken drive.
Restart your computer after the disk fix has been performed, and attempt to run your Windows XP setup again.
You should have no input while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input might further damage your computer and hard drive

Replace your hard disk if the setup fails with the same message. At this point your hard disk is more than likely broken and needs to be replaced.

No installation cd

Many newer computers have a backup reinstall program on a partition of the original hard drive. While booting in Bios hit F10 or F12. Your should get boot options as well as the Recovery Install option. Before using the Reinstall option try using the System Restore. The computer automatically sets restore points and you can select "Last good settings" restore point. In "safe mode" you can access more options in Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. There you will find other dates which you can restore to.

If you cannot boot you can use a manufacturers recovery disk. Unlike a MS full version CD the recovery disc will reinstall all software and hardware back to the state it was in when it was new. Depending how old your computer is, you may have to do many downloads from Windows Update.
You can get a recovery reinstall CD from the computer manufacturer, or check with friends if any have the same brand computer as their disc may be compatible with your computer. The discs are manufacturer specific and will only work on the same brand computer.

Will my Dell Windows XP Reinstallation disk work

Usually not, usually hard drives are built with a hidden recovery partition that stays intact even if your operating system is not,and the cd just runs off this. unless you have a complete operating system but they never give you these out .

Sony vaio VGN FS 742W notebook Startup problem. When swithed ON,Vaio,Window XP screen appears and then window 'isass' appears & notebook swithes OFF automatically.Pl.advise solution for the above....

If Windows appears, and start booting, then the problem concerns the operative system and not the hardware.

That is good news, because all you need to do is using the original computer recovery disk, or finding a Windows setup disk to reinstall Windows.

To reinstall Windows, start the computer with the Recovery Disk or Windows Disk inside and chose Boot from CD when asked, then follow instructions.

Regards.

Laptop

when you turn on your computer at the boot screen press F8, this should get you into safe mode. and if you cannot. or it's still rebooting on you then i would find a recovery disk or boot disk. and check for viruses in your master boot sector. this may be recovered by using a windows recovery disk. (after dealing with the virus). you may even need to do a full reinstallation but a recovery should do. Also i've seen reboot problems occure with hardware problems, such as a blown capasitor on you motherboard. if recovery or even full reinstall fails i'd have you hardware checked for problems. I've found a forum that may supply a little insite to this prob. http://www.techexams.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12121
I hope this helps.
