I have a black vertical stripe on my Philips 42" plasma TV. the set is about 3 years old. It is in about 1/3 of the way fro the laft side as you look at the TV. It is there with all sources.
I think you have a frame fault on the tv. If you are capable check the picture frame board first. If not find a competant technician. Good luck.

I have the same problem with the black vertical stripe (approximate width = 4")
same problem - a black line from the top of the panel to the bottom about 4inches wide. Color dances in and out of the black line.
I have the same problem. In addition to the 4" vertical black strip on left 1/3 of screen, there is also a 4" vertical stripe running down the center of the screen (half is black, half is white). Any suggestions?
While watching TV, a 4" black vertical strip appeared in the center of the screen. I turned the TV off and then back on after a few minutes and the strip was still there. I turned the TV off over night and again, the strip is still there.
