This depends on how your video signals are delivered to the box, in most cases terrestrial TV signals received by ariel, cable are passed through the recorder, then to your TV, this means you can record 1 channel on the box and view another, it appears that this recorder only has 1 tuner so you cannot record 1 station and watch another on the output of this box.

with regard to freeview / satellite tuning, these are connected directly to the DVR and they only have 1 channel to view at a time, so unless you acquire a satellite / cable tuner which allows for dual channels or if you acquire a second cable/sattelite box from your provider it is not possible to record 1 channel and view annother

so this problem can be circumvented with other products, but the expense may be more than you expected, as most cable / sattelite provders will charge to provide a second box. also you will also have to be aware of interfeerance with remotes if 2 sat boxes are used. as the remotes are likly to be similar.

How long is it safe to pause a Samsung smart tv for. My husband says I will ruin it by pausing it

How big is its hard drive memory ?
When you pause live tv the tv starts recording the live tv on the hard drive it has. So a few hours would be normal but a few days would use up hard drive space. It deletes the recorded tv as you watch it back.

Hd recording

If the digital tuner can pick up the HD channels, then I don't see why it can't record them. However some TV channels have blocking on them to prevent recording. If it can't record a channel it will say so with a message, generally.

Connecting and recording sony hdtv, rdr-hx780 recorder, sony dream system

I have the same system, except for the TV, I have a project (that part doesn't matter).

From your Sat. go straight to your AV receiver
Again from you Sat. (all of the AV outputs are all live), go out from either 1 or 2 and go to your recorder Line 1 in.
From you AV receiver go to your TV.

All you have to do is hit record and you will record whichever channel you are on. I am having difficulty getting it set up as a PVR, but will figure it out sooner or later.

Hope this helped.

Hello! My Philips DVDR5350H/05 randomley records for 6 hours. The only way to stop this, once the recording has started, is to go into the system menu and select the option to remove the time shift...

Hello. This is not a fault. The DVDR5350H's Hard Drive (called Time Shift Buffer) begins recording (for up to six hours) as soon as the unit it switched on and only clears the 'temporary' recordings when it is switched off or you switch to 'Cam' mode on the remote control.

Like Sky+ and Freeview+, the continuous recoding enables you to save, pause and rewind live TV (this could also apply to Freeview or any source that you may have connected to the EXT1 and EXT2 SCART sockets. In other words, if you are watching TV or anything connected to the 5350 while it is switched on you can keep it without even having pressed record in the first place (pressing OK on the remote control will show you how).

It is normal for all HDD recorders with a 'pause live TV' function to record whether asked to or not.
