Did it used to work and stopped? I'm ruling out the obvious, replacing the batteries. I would check the Device Manager to see if when you insert the mouse's receiver USB plug, that the device is recognized, and also the driver is properly working. I'm guessing you tried that already... Last resort I would open the mouse and look for any problems with the hardware, and also see if the USB plug is disconnected on the inside. It's also possible for a USB port to "burn up" the trace on the board. This happened to mine for the ports on the top and also thought it was my mouse. I found out that the USB port inside the computer on the top were shorting out the small circuit board. So What I did was remove the small circuit board for the USB ports, and solder in a jumper wire to bridge the gap that was burned out. The cause, dust. I recommend blowing out the case every 3-5 months while it is unplugged with either duster or a compressed air gun preferably. I hope this helps you.
I suggest that you run the Windows 7 Hardware Troubleshooter on the computer and
check to make sure that the mouse is ok.
1. Click Start.
2. Type in Troubleshooting
in the Start Search.
3. Click on Hardware and
Sound.
4. Click on Hardware
Devices.
Now check if that fixes the issue or not.
If the issue still persists, then I suggest that you install the latest
drivers manually from the link and install the same and check.

I also suggest that you check if the batteries are full of
