Dim picture from my KDFE60A20 hard to see in much defination in day light

my first thought would be new bulb needed but if you have changed bulb can't be that.
is the wall white?
is there a setting to say what colour you are projecting on?

When it goes on does it come on with a very dim screen and then shut off?

When its off what lights on front (led) are blinking?

I've seen this in two scenarios.


First: The housing of the bulb is dirty (the lens the bulb lights onto) and the internal screen is dirty also.


The second: The bulb is wired reversely of the proper way to wire it. This will light the bulb, but will not light as bright as when it is wired correctly!

dim light check first make sure lamp was correct lamp for you model, most time it's worth buying lamp and enclosure to make sure lamp is correct then also it could be ballast problems.

It is lamp that need to be replaced.
Lamp is not generating enough light to present bright picture on tv screen.
Lamp replacement is easy and written in user manual of tv.
Please buy Sony original lamp for good picture result in tv.

Yes, it is lamp problem that seems broken or dead and will be replaced.
Lamp replacement procedure is written in Instruction Manual of TV Page-76 and if you need a copy, click Sony Support to download it.

Have you had the projectors dusted? They'll acculate a lot over the years and you'll notice some dimming as time goes by.

classic Sony telling you the lamp is going bad. Replace lamp yourself it is consumer replacable.

Same problem here. 5 blinks is video related. I've been told to clean the screen by the lamp, as they could be clogged and causing it to over heat. Going to give thet a try first. I'll post what happens...

It could be a dirty projection lense or the light engine is malfunctioning by a slipped lense in front of the color wheel or the light engine is dirty it self. They are not two hard to take out if the mounts have set marks on them then it is easy to put the engine the way it was.
