Denon DBP-1611UD Blu-Ray Universal Audio/Video Player is region Locked...can you hlep me please? I am advised by the dealer that it CANNOT be unlocked, even though there IS a way of doing uit, each time then Firmware software is updated, it will revert to the Australian locked setting...which is a pain !

Australia and new zealand DVD playes usually are region 4 only this means the DVD is probably imported. You will need a multizone DVD player to watch it.
region A = region 1
region B = region 2
etc etc

In this player the firmware update(called Network Update) can be done only directly from the player: you must connect it to the internet using a LAN cable to do it. You must configure the connection first.
If you don't know how to do all of this it's explained in the manual
