MY LG LCD TV PICTURE DIED

Watching tv and it just went off.  All we have is sound.  Menu won't work either.  No picture regardless. Customer Service was useless when I called LG.

I have a 47LG50 with the same problem watching like normal and then all I had was sound with a faint light in the background no menu or anything. could hear channels change when using the remote. similar problem for me? what is the cost of something like this?

Your inverter are fried, need to replaced a new one. If you still under warranties asked LG to send you a replacement. Have a nice weekend!

It sounds that the back light inverter board, and back light CCFL lamps to your TV need to be checked. It will be best to contact any service technician, because to check its back light CCFL lamps, you must disassemble the display panel, a very skilled work indeed. Wife was watching tv and the picture went out. We currently have direct tv for the service provider. Tried watching a dvd and had the same result. However, sound works on the tv just no picture.
I would start by obviously checking all connections on the back of the tv. Sounds like maybe your Yellow RCA cable might have creeped out. Red and White RCAs are typically for sound and Yellow is for Video. Hope this helps

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture
Most likely what happened is one of the capacitors went bad. When a capacitors goes bad it produces a popping sound. This could be an easy and cheap fix if you find the bad capacitor or capacitors. The bad capacitor will have a bulging top most likely on the power board but could be anywhere.
