Drum doesn't turn

Underneath where the motor is,, there is a locking mechanism, which is operated by a cable connected too the lid, check cable hasn't snapped or come off,, it's adjustable also,, may just need adjusting

check belt drum drive? check drum turns at all, it may be stuck.most drums turn with a belt. if it broke it is laying on the bottom of the dryer.didnt u see it??look again.

What is the model number of the unit?

If the motor runs and the drum doesn't turn then most likely the belt is broken.

The usual cause is a broken belt. If the motor is running replace the belt. About $25.00 for the part.

something jammed between outer drum and inner drum or bearings jammed, if any off these then belt will be burnt Re: Jeff

not a good model number,most likely you have a broken belt as long as it starts,heats but the drum doesn't spin,if you get a buzzing sound and it doesn't start you could have something stuck in the blower wheel,the motor is jammed or the motor is bad,you can open the door,push the door switch in,spin the drum with your other hand and have someone push the start button,if it starts you have a bad motor.

the belt broke,you can buy a kit with the belt,rollers and pulley,change out everything and you'll be good to go.next time send the model number.good luck.while you have the dryer apart,vac out all the dust and lint and if you have a shop vac put it on blow and blow the motor out and clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into,also if your vent line is a long run remove it from the back of the dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower if you have one.

While the belt IS a possibility, you should check to make sure that the drum is not out of balance or that it is wedged somehow.

When the drum is empty, try to manually turn the drum. You should only being turning the resistance of the motor and belt; and the internal working of the tub, so it should turn under some pressure. BUT don't put excessive force into trying to turn it! If it doesn't turn with moderate pressure then something has come loose and wedged the mechanism. Which means that the drum system would need disassembled and repaired.

Is the drum turning? If it's turning, then maybe the high-limit thermostat or element is bad. If drum doesn't turn, check lid switch.
