For the M3D420 Vizio TV, you need a 3D source connected to the TV with an HDMI cable that supports 3D. Some older HDMI cables will not carry all of the data of a 3D source. Turn off the set top box (for example a 3D Blu-ray player). Set your TV to the correct input (press the Input button on your remote). Then turn on the set top box and (for the Blu-ray player) insert your 3D content disc. Start playing the movie. When you see the prompt "3D content detected", highlight Yes to switch to 3D display and press OK to start the 3D playback.
After selecting Yes and pressing OK, then put on your 3D glasses. Make sure that you are sitting with your eyes level with the TV screen eye-line and looking straight at the screen. (If you are off-line, you will not get the 3D experience.)
These directions probably apply to all 3D Vizio TVs. I hope this helps.

What about LG 55lx6500 ?
If you are using an HDMI v1.4 source with 3D content playing and cable, the 3D option should come up automatically with a prompt to choose the 3D type. After making the selection, put on your 3D glasses. Otherwise look for a 3D or LR select button on your remote.
The manual for the 55lx6500 is available from LG here:http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/tele... (long URL). Click on the Support tab and look on the right side of the page.
I hope this helps.

I have seen this happen if you do not use digital audio out(optical) from the tv to the home theater. To make the hook up simpler, first connect all devices to the tv itself and do not connect anything to the hometheater. From the tv's optical out port plug a cable into the optical audio in of the hometheater system. You can also use a 3.5mm stereo audio to 3.5mm connector plugged into the headphones jack of the tv to the stereo audio in port on the hometheater. I use the same setup and have never had any issues so I am positive it will work for you too.

There's a setting called TruVolume, or something like that. I'm not at home to look at it right now. Turn that off. If it's off, try turning it on. It worked for **** on my 55", but functions wonderfully on my 32".
