SOURCE: radio shack trc-447 cb. no controls function,

The units have a reset code that protects the PLL brain from damage from voltage spikes. Ship it in and I'll get it back to normal function for you, providing the PLL has not been damaged.

Thanks,

SOURCE: i hooked up my cb radio. my friend could hear me i couldnt hear h

Is the tone high pitch? if so he was too close to you (feedback).

If the tone was low then could be a voltage problem, or a microphone fault.

more like to be an incorrectly wired microphone if the radio is new?

look inside at meter--two wire bulb with rubber boot slides at a angle into the meter and is easy to replace.

I have a PC 78XL CB radio and it is on but cant hear nothing ,volume is turn up

Make sure squelch is turned down enough---if meter shows signal and no audio the internal speaker may be bad (plug one into external jack on rear of the radio).

If the radio transmits and shows it (or someone can hear when you xmit) the problem is in the audio circuit of the radio.

Check internal/external speaker AND SWAP THE MIC as a mic with a broken wire inside or open element as well can cause this.

My cb radio is on but cant hear nothing sound is turn up but nothing come out

You didn't include the make / model CB you have, so I can only offer general suggestions. If these do not work, please provided the missing info.

Start out by locating and setting the the Volume to a position between 1/4 and 1/2 way clockwise, the Squelch to fully counter-clockwise and the "RF Gain" to fully clockwise to "MAX".

Check the position of the "PA / CB" switch and set to CB. When set to PA, both receive and transmit audio is sent directly to an outdoor speaker (instead of through the transmitter and antenna for reception by other radios). The PA speaker is usually connected to a jack at the rear of the radio. When the PA / CB switch is selected, the internal speaker is silenced even if there is no PA speaker connected.

At this point, you should hear static or voices (with an antenna connected). Do not attempt to transmit without a properly tuned antenna connected. If no sound is heard, there's something else wrong.

My cb will turn on but i cannot talk to anyone, im getting nothing. Why?

Does it Transmit?? Does meter show transmit?? Can you hear?? If its hearing an transmit gone..it could be Microphone, or speaker, or other more serious problems inside circuit. Change mics and hook up Ext Spkr. If that does not do it, then radio is gone. Buy new radio instead of repairs.

Hi i have a midland 98 plus,i have been told that when i talk it have very low volume and people have to turn their set up to full volume to hear me. but the same mic on a different set works fine

Look at Radio Mods or Defcom mods. To clip modulation diode inside radio. Take to Cb shop to Peak&Tune. It may be wound to high in carrier but not audio. Buy you a "Power Mic" at Radio Shack or WWW.COPPERELECTRONICS.COM.

2950 RCI WONT TURN ON ONLY A BACKGROUND LIGHT

You either have a bad LCD display OR the connection for the LCD display is loose/off. Its impossible to tell what channel you are on with a 2950 without the screen working, but when you turn the channel knob do you hear any other cb transmitting on ANY channel?? This is a tough one!! I really need some more info on the radio.

Open the case and look at the area that the display is in (front of radio). Slightly wiggle all of the little plugs in that area. If you see the LCD screen come on or flash then you know where your problem lies. If not, then you're probably looking at buying a LCD display for the radio.

Good luck.

I can't hear through my internal or external cb speaker

Can you hear static when the squelch is at minimum ?. If you can hear static then tere is nothing wrong with the audio system. If you are sure about the squelch, connect goosd speaker directly to the 2 wires coming from the main board bypassing the speker jack. if there is still no sound then the audio amp chip is defective. The audio amp can only be damaged if the output is shorted for a long period of time.
