Have 2 monitors both with same problems. Hissing and popping noise when first turned on, goes away after 1 minute of warm up. After playing music for a few minutes, low freq speaker will stop working. Sometimes tweeter stops working. The only way that I have found to make them start working is to short input center conductor to ground for short time to create a loud pop which "shocks the speaker/s into working for awhile. Seems like if I can get the speakers to play for an hour or so, they will be more stable. I really need a schematic to do some voltage measurements.

One possibility is that the mute switches on your speakers have oxydized contacts INSIDE the switch - this kind of malfunction mostly occurs when the equipment is exposed to moisture and/or smog.

The most common solution is to change both switches, but they can also be disassembled and cleaned up (which is a bit more complicated and time consuming).

Another possibility is a dried up filter capacitor in the power supply or somewhere in the preamplifier section, possibly also a bad preamplifier chip but if your speakers work fine (with the exception of the mute switch noise), then the problem is more likely with the switches.

Also, check the internal connectors for any dirt, broken wires or desoldered pins.

Could also be something else, you should know i'm only assuming on the possibilities and i'm listing the most common problems i've encountered so far.

Check the bearing in the end of the blower motor. They go bad and make a noise and over time will start rubbing and squealing like crazy.

Problem with DELL 2408WFP

I have similar problem.  I'm using the HDMI connection from my PC to the monitor and when I connect my audio out from the monitor I get hissing and popping sounds along with the audio.  It sounds pathetic, I also hear the music and audio along with the hissing and popping.
If I connect the audio to the back of the PC the sound is crystal Clear.  I am using Vista 64 bit with NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT video card.  Trying  to Google to see if others are are seeing the same problem.  I just got my monitor on Oct 6.

Sony Bravia XBR-2 32-inch LCD with popping noise problem

Unfortunately, we have the same problem. We hear popping and our sound goes lower. It is not the cable box for us, it's definitely the TV; however, it happens, on our set, after its been on for a few minutes and then goes away after half an hour or so -- however, this evening its been happening for the past hour and the TV has been on for the evening.
