Hello
There are two possibilities for this fault. The first one is of its loading belt. If loading belt, that fastened to loading gear wheel to loading motor get loose or broken, the tray won't come out or go inside. Just place your ear very near to the player, and push eject button and listen, whether there is a motor running sound for at least 3 seconds. If you hear this sound, make sure that the belt is brokenn. The second chance is with loading motor itself. If it do not get proper voltage or got dmaged, the fault you describe here will occur. To replace this motor, you have to disassemble the CD mechanism. You must have all the tools to do the work and experience to disassemble and reassemble the CD mechanism. The motor is not a costly part, and can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops at your town. OK.

I need to unlock a Toshiba DVD player/VCR Combo SDV395 to view DVDs' purchased in Francs

You can change the Region Code of you DVD player but be aware that you have a limited number of changes, then the DVD player will be stuck to a certain region.
Search in the Options menu and change the region code to one printed on the french dvd case. To watch DVDs from your region again you have to change the region once more. Watch for changes left.

Can not get closed captions on dvd to play on sony tv with captions on tv set on.

Hi, you might have to turn the CC feature off from your TV and select the CC feature from the DVD disc set up.Refer to page 35 of the owners manual to get the correct language caption on your disc(dvd): basically press the audio key on your remote control until the desired captioning appears.

Dvd play works but vcr playing does not

For this unit the component output (green, blue, and red cables) only work for the DVD player portion of it. You will need to connect either the av input on the back or the front with composite (yellow, red, and white cables) to your television in addition to the component cables I assume you have connected already. Once you have done so you will need to switch this unit over to the right av output in order to access the vcr and also switch your television over to the right av input in order to pick up the signal from the vcr.

Hi. I have Toshiba sdv395 & was told I could dub VHS to DVD. There is no info in the manual. Can it be done & how. Roy

This is a DVD player. It will not write to DVD but will play discs you have recorded elsewhere. You could (with non-copy protected discs) dub the DVD to VHS. To go the other way, you would need to connect the player to a computer with appropriate software or other DVD recording device.

I hope this helps.

It says no disc inserted

well it sounds like a problem with your lense. so just take it apart and look at your lens and see if there is anything wrong or out of the ordinary with it.
