Lost Ant1 & Ant2, other inputs (HD1, HD2, Video 1, 2, & 3) OK

Had Convergence problem, replaced the STK 392-110's on my Toshiba 42H81, adjusted convergence per service manual and picture looks good, All the inputs work except the OTA ant1 & ant2, just get a blank screen. Whats weird is that when I use the POP mode, the pip on the right is visible but the left is blank. Try to swap but it only switches on the right pane, nothing on the left. Also, in service mode, the "Block: sub main" is red when the diagnostic menu is run. Anybody has an idea as to what is going on? Do I have to make an adjustment in the service mode to slove this?

SOURCE: Sound but no picture in PIP

You mention that the unit is 2 months old. It should be under warranty and should be covered by the store you purchased it from or the manufacturer. If you or any unauthorized person works on it you will void the warranty and besides that's what you paid for when you bought it. Have it looked at by the appropriate warranty person or facility.

SOURCE: just got an antenna to pick up local HDTV

According to the user's manual on page 16, press Menu and open the Setup menu. Highlight Installation and press Enter. Open the Terrestrial menu and highlight Input Configuration. Select the ANT1 or ANT2 (whichever the antenna is connected to) and select input source Antenna [not cable]. Highlight Done and press enter. Now rescan your channels. If you still get nothing, try relocating your antenna to a better place. Digital TV is highly dependent on line of site signals. So if you are in a mountainous region or surrounded by a lot of high rise buildings, you may not receive a good enough signal to register channels on your TV.

Tv/video switch won't switch

The model indicated is a older Toshiba rear projection(if another brand/model let me know)

You should be able to select the rear inputs either via the remote (original one) or with the input (video) button on the set.

If in the menu they are grayed out--it means they have been locked out.

Failing that a serious problem exists in the set's microprocessor.

Hint: if you have not tried it UNPLUG THE SET FOR A WHILE TO SEE IF WHEN YOU PLUG IT BACK IT WILL RESET and restore the inputs.

Tried to auto adjust the guns, will not come within range

Hi Tod,

If colors do not align correctly, most likely you have a convergence failure. This requires replacement of the 2 STK ICs and possibly some low ohm resistors.

Some Toshiba have a Horizontal oscillator/Drive IC failure that results in a small or shrunk picture (2-3" border on all sides). The 3 colors do not align properly because of the reduced Hor drive signal. The convergence adjust controls will work but not allow good adjustment. Convergence is ok, Hor Drive signal is incorrect.

Many do-it-yourselfers mistake the Hor Drive problem in Toshiba RPTV with convergence failure. Too much adjustment of the convergence controls may cause the saved data to be really messed up and require more difficult alignment in the service mode.

If minor or simple adjustments in the customer convergence adjust menu do not fix your problem, there is a fault. Stop adjusting until fault is repaired

Convergence failure can be accurately identified with the Convergence Gallery on our website. Service in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton and other Canada cities.

Just got an antenna to pick up local HDTV channels. I scan the channels and none are found. does it matter if I connect to "Ant1" or "Ant2"? neither seem to work. Thanks.

Fuzzy picture and vertical lines on right side, even after WARMING UP for 30 minutes.

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400

ONLY HD2 works, which is used most of the time.

I would look to see if a set up menu on the set has the other inputs lock out.

Toshiba TN55X Convergence problem.

You brought up an issue that we hadn't considered. Shortly after hooking up our TV to the receiver with a composite video, our convergence which wacko. My hubby replaced the 2 ICs, but now our power button just flashes red, with no picture. Not sure if new ICs are faulty or if it's another issue. He will replace old ICs to see if problem still exists with turning on the tube. And he'll try disconnecting the video signal to see if problem exists.

Ouch.. may have to consider another tv thanks to new technology ??????

Good luck solving your problem.
