Burned DVDs play on PC but won't play on home player. I have 3 PC (2HPs and 1 Parts built),running XP home, pro, media. I bought 2 Samsung SH-S182 DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner, and have tried them on all 3 as slaves. I've used Nero 6 and 7 to burn DVD movies at 4x to 16x --R region free. They will play on all 3 PCs. ___ But when I try them on my home DVD Player, after saying LOADING; I get an error disc message. ___ I also have a 4x Pioneer DVD Burner that has continued to work great on all 3 PCs and the Home Player. I've tried the bad disc on the neighbors player with the same problem. Also, when I use Drive Clone to make a backup in the BIOS. The Samsung drives hangup when I try to burn a CD. Nero 6 and 7 does not provides us the facilitiy of burning the DVD in appropriate DVD Format. Instead it burns the DVD in the normal DATA Format, which is not supportable by our DVD Player. To play the DVD in our DVD Player we should burn the DVD in the appropriate DVD Burner which itself converts the extension of the movie and make it proper for a DVD Player to read it. It also adds some files to the DVD which is sometimes used by the dvd player in running the DVD.

Thank You

Hi ruggie_p,

Since you have an Internet connection to your PC, you should download codec to your Windows Media Player for it to play DVD's.
Mine is Cole2Media.

Hope this helps you a lot.

Won,t play dvd on xp pro

Open "My Computer".
Click with the RIGHT mouse-button on the icon for the CD/DVD drive.
Choose 'Explore'.
If your DVD drive is working, some files/folders should be displayed.

Are you using the free 'VLC' software to play your DVD-movie?
If not, search for VLC online, download it, and use it to "play" the movie.

I have a Samsung HT BD2 region 4, I go many region 1, they wont play, how can I make it play?

To unlock the DVD code its defends upon what region you belongs or from were you bought the DVD unit. Just click this site to hack the region code ; http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for operation on within a specific geographical region in the world. For example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1 players can only play region 1 discs. That's right, the DVDs themselves are encoded for a specific region. On the back of each DVD package, you will a find a region number (1 thru 6).
The geographical regions are as follows:
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs

Hope it may help you;

Regards;

Dvds wont play on pc

You can install another DVD player software.
there are plenty of free players on the internet that you can download, or you can buy one at your local software dealer. Once you install this, the newer video codecs should be installed

Home dvd player won't play a burned dvd

Not all burned DVDs are compatible with all home DVD players.

Some things to do to help compatibility:

1. Use only DVD+Rs.
2. Burn at a slower speed (4x or below).
3. Make sure the software you are using to burn the DVD creates a menu. Most DVD players won't be able to play a DVD unless there is a menu; usually you can tell the software to skip the menu if you want but it still must be encoded onto the DVD.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate this solution with a fixya rating. :c)
