Water line for ice maker keeps freezing,I tried turning the freezer thermostat down I also put some instalation on the line itself. After I defrost all the ice out of the line it seems like it works for a few days then it freezes again.I have had this fridge for over 5 years now and never had a problem before. All of a sudden I seen there was no ice and then I found the line frozen.I don't have the money for a repair man right now so any advice i would greatly apperciate thanks Dave
I have had this happen to me before. What happens is the water fill valve
does not completely close and the tube will freeze shut as a small ammount of water will continuosly dribble into the tube when the valve shuts off causing the tube to freeze solid. I tried to clean the valve but that did not work so I replaced it and that ended the problem. A new valve is not expensive.
Hey people, DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY ON A SERVICE CALL FOR THIS. Defrost the water lines in the back of the fridge inside and outside with a hair dryer. Spend about 15 mins on each part...be patient. The problem you are having is caused by the ice tray filling too full. Only let it fill to about half capacity. When you do not need more ice shut the maker off. You also do not need to spend the money on a heater. If you need more help you can feel free to skype me if you like..cali123man Good luck!!!!

I have the same exact problem. I can actually pinch the fill tube at the end by the ice tray and can feel the frozen ice. I haven't tried turning down the thermostat yet, i will try next. But I have thawed out the fridge twice, the ice maker works for a week and then freezes up again.
I have the same problem.. The tube that connects through the back of the Freezer that connects into the icemake is the culprit. Where it drains into the icemaker starts to fill up with ice and then before you know it, it freezes all the way up the line blocking the water from getting to the icemaker. I've defrosted this thing twice and within a couple of days the same problem again.
It just started doing this and has worked fine for 5 years now.
Not sure if freezing is the cause, but mine also just stopped working (it will be five years old in June). There is no water getting to the ice maker, but I can pinch the rubber tubing and it does not feel like it is frozen. I was also able to push a flexible straw up the tube quite a way so if it is frozen it must be a ways up in the line.
