DNs (Domain Name System)
DNS is used for resolving mapping between IP addreses and host names.
Means when you quary for yahoo.com computer only recognize bits and bytes format so but dnd resolves this isssue when it got yahoo.com quary it send request to ip addreses of yahoo.com.
If you change dns ip to that then all quary goes to tht dnd server if it has info for your quary then it forwards to there other wise you get page not found.
If you have a dynamic IP on your wan port you shall register a domain name and register it with dynamic DNS, provide your dynamic dns name in your DSL router so that you shall connect to your DSL router by calling the registered dynamic dns name from any where (you should have internet connection).
1. Register a name in dyndns.com 2. update this on your dsl router
Wait for some time,
3. access the registered name from anywhere using a browser
I did this with a cctv and another dns server and does not really work. So i just change my ip to static and open ports 80 and 443 and 8000 (server) and worked fine without using ddns or free dns. Oh and i use this to check my ports if they are working
1- Try setting your own DNS server settings, right click on your network connection > properties > TCPIP v4 > edit DNS settings ( use dyndns.com as a dns for example). 2- Try refreshing your DNS cache: start > run > cmd > and type: ipconfig /flushdns
You may need to manually configure your PS3 connection on the console. Let's see.. I can suggest to first go to your Settings Menu -> Network Settings -> Choose:"Settings and Connection Status List" this will display a pretty detailed information about your connection to your local gateway (router).. Check specifically for Primary and Secondary DNS. In my experience, using the PS3's auto setup for the connection seems to enter the default gateway's ip (labeled "Default Router" on PS3 Status Screen) in place of the real DNS entries..
Question: Sooo how do you check your primary/secondary DNS for your network? Answer: On your PC, open a web browser and enter your default gateway ip into the browser.. log into your router (assistance can be found in your router manual or by calling your router manufacture). You should see a status page of sorts that displays your ISP's primary/secondary DNS entries.. Simply transfer those two IPs to your PS3 manually to correct the DNS issue.
First you need to find a Windows wired or wireless device already connected to the network in order to find out the required settings
Windows XP 1. Click start --> (sometimes settings) --> Control Panel --> Network Connections 2. Double click on the active connection which will say connected underneath 3. Click Support 4. Click Details 5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.
Windows Vista 1. Click Start --> Control Panel --> Network and Sharing Center 2. Click on "View Status" to the right of your connection 4. Click Details 5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.
Set these values under "manual settings" in the PS3 but add 1 to the last number for the IP Address as this has to be unique on your network
Dynamic DNS (Domain Name Service) is a method of keeping a domain name linked to a changing (dynamic) IP address. With most Cable and DSL connections, you are assigned a dynamic IP address and that address is used only for the duration of that specific connection. To properly configure the DDNS feature follow the steps below:
Step 1 Log into the web based configuration by typing in the IP address of the router (default:192.168.0.1) in your web browser. The username is admin (all lowercase) and the password is blank (nothing).
Step 2 Click on the Tools tab and then click Misc. If you have the DI-614+ with firmware 2.30, click on Tools > Parental Control.
Step 3 Enter the required information under Dynamic DNS:
Server Address: Enter the IP Address or domain name of your DDNS server (IE members.dyndns.org).
Host Name: Enter the Domain name that you registered with your DDNS service provider, (IE mydomain.dyndns.org).
Username
Password
Step 4 Click Apply and then Continue to save your changes.
