I have a 15 year old Asko dryer. The dryer over heats and shuts off. It will start again after cooling and the reset switch is pushed. I've checked the exhaust ducts for clearence and lint filter.I suspect...
Hello and welcome to Fixya,
The problem you`re having ( based on your description, checked exhaust/vent duct`s...hi limit tripping...suspect it faulty ) can be provoked by several factors with dryers, but specifically when it comes to asko in this case.
I`ll try to explain the most common and therefore most likely cause or causes following a couple of questions to clarify where you are in the diagnosis process and what you`ve tried.
First...when you reply can you specify the actual model you have, i.e. TD73, T700, etc. ( Likely the TD73 series based on it`s age, but better sure then guessing ).
Since you`ve stated you checked the vents and lint screen, I`ll ask this. Have you tried running a cycle with the exhaust to the outside disconnected ?
If not try it and see what happens, does it still trip the hi-limit ?
If no it doesn`t trip, then you have a venting problem/air-flo restriction somewhere between the dryer and outside.
If yes it`s either a heating element ( asko original part #8063808 ) or blower wheel/impeller ( asko original part #8055200 ).
Both heater & impeller can also be completely clogged with lint causing the hi-limt to trip as opposed to being outright faulty.
Let me know how this goes and I can assist you further in guiding you to access and inspect the heater and impeller based on the answer`s you post back...if you think you`re capable or you may decide to just phone a technician.
In the event you phone a tech. I`ll add this, make certain the tech. is from an authorized asko service provider or potentially you can spend a lot of money in uneccessary repairs and parts.
Good luck.
