Hi Sakell -
Had posted this question yesterday on the thread, but thought I'd ask direct.
Controls have frozen up on my Lumix DMC-FX7 camera, and your idea about the zoom switch being at fault seems plausible...any suggestions on how to clean it out? Mine is not stuck, just no control function of any type, and zoom indicator is shown on LCD window (as also described on similar problem from other user).

It's easier to download pictures using card readers. Just insert the SD card in the reader and plug it in you computer. Double click the folder DMIC and you can drag and drop the pictures.
You can buy card readers in any computer store for $5-$10.

Remove the card and battery. Clean the battery contacts inside camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. Be sure battery is charged. Press all buttons on camera. Insert card and then the battery. See if it works. If you can now get into the setup menu, you can do a reset from the menu.

The innards of modern DSLRs are precise and fragile. You need to contact a reputable repair shop ASAP. In addition to fixing your camera, they will clean the interior properly, eliminating dust particles that find their way to the CCD. The cleaning is something you should have done from time to time anyway, so just bite the bullet and take it in!

sounds like the focus and (Optical Image Stabilization)drive motors are bound or broken, sadly this normaly means new camera, unless there are no marks on the case and they wouldn't think that it had been dropped or gotten wet, well ya know, they will normaly repair or replace it as long as it is due to manufacture defect.

Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair
center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope
the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need
any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. To start with try to blow compressed air around the lens cover so that if there is any dirt it cleans if off. You can also stick a thin strip of paper between the lens shutter and the outer support ring & move it in a way that it clears the debris that's stuck in there. If still the issue is not resolved then you'll have to replace the lens assembly & lens mechanism to fix this issue. It is recommended to be done by a professional. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks
