Stop running it! Don't use tools if they smell like something is burning. Often times you'll make it worse and will make the repair more costly. It could be as simple as replacing the brushes.
To check for worn brushes, remove the black metal cover on the bottom. Then unscrew the black plastic brush caps. Worn brushes will be very low and not have mush carbon left, have a broken spring, or may be sticking in the brush holder and aren't sliding in and out well enough.
If it's something more than that, take it in for repair.
