Scanner doesn't scan all barcodes

Hi, I have a problem with the Falcon 4420. It doesnt scans many of our barcodes, eg those found on cans, food items, etc. It does however, scan huge barcodes found on boxes so i dont think it's a problem with the laser. I have it setup on the default factory setting. Can you assist?

Thanks for replying bluegreenash, however my scanner didn't come with a code book. By default, the scanner comes with code 128, 39, EAN, UPC-A, Codabar, etc already enabled and configured. It scans various UPC-A codes, (not all) but it wouldn't scan a code 128 or 39 or any other type. Could it be a problem with the laser?

These scanners are user configurable, to prevent scanning of an inappropriate barcode, only the required barcode schema are enabled, if you look in your code book you will find that there is a page with listings and examples of the various different barcode schemes, in the section before that there should be a list of barcodes that allow you to program the device to use whichever barcode scheme you wish (as long as it is compatible with the scanner)

so you can enable the scanner to read 128, code 39 or EAN and also you can configure prefixes / suffixes depending on your software's requirements

you can set the Symbologies used from the "FMU" sotware, it also may be possible to do this from the terminal itself but I am unfamiliar with the menus on this hardware

The bar cord reader doesn't automatically adds an item i.e I have to press ENTER key before the next item. What might the problem?

Check if you have scanned the Carriage Return barcode to solve the issue.

hi it depends on if it is a hard code which cant be done need scanner if it is just a code TRY the battery off half hour put it back on if does not work under the 2 front seats their is yellow plugs move them around it should turn off

Falcon 4420 scanners needs cmos battery replaced on the pc board. What is the part number the battery and how easy is it to replace?

dont know for sure but these are usually 3032 button style batteries, you can buy them at a local supermaket.
pop out or slide out once youve got the case open.

NB this is a very general solution, open the case first if breaking the warranty doesnt worry you.
