Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-46S2000 46 in. LCD HDTV

Four blinking red lights.

Hi, My sony bravia model KDL 40S2010 did not start up this morning. The standby light flashes four times and then pauses for a few seconds and then flashes again. Grateful for any help you can offer to help me. Thank you . I have 2 Sony Bravia KDL-46S2000 and one just quit when we woke up Mon Oct 6/08 and tv would not come on. Standby light is flashing 4 red lights. The Sony authorized Serviceman is expected next Tuesday a.m. Now I am fearfull!!! We paid top dollar for these t.v.'s !!! **$%#}?!! and have been huge fans loyal to Sony.

Update - Sony recommended technician who unplugged the tv for one minute . . (did not look at the back - it is mounted on the wall) and said 'Sony will have to figure this one out' wrote 'won't come on' on the invoice and charged 70.00 for service call. Sony Support Centre has very poor communication procedures . . . and has determined this is a $1200 repair . . . still waiting for final decision - with no tv since Oct 6th. Continuing to call, fax and e-mail Sony Support Centre on daily basis . . . they must be very busy!

I have the same problem red light flashing 13times what i do is turn it off for 30 min then it powers back up i gess it gets too hot

Either on of the backlight inverter boards is bad or a backlight has failed inside the panel.

I am sorry to hear of your bad experience. With my company, we advise the customer that the TV must be in a serviceable position, which means NOT hanging on a wall so that the technician can check the "workings" of the TV. Without taking tha back off, there is no way the technician could guarantee that the panel was bad (what I am assuming since you got a $1200 estimate). There are fuses on the inverter board that have to be checked before a tech can say that iit is a backlight in the panel that is bad. Please keep me advised on your situation.
