Point your web browser at http://www.gmail.com

If another account comes up, sign out of it by clicking the avatar in the upper-right then clicking "Sign out."

If you then still can't sign in to your account, click the "Need help?" link on the sign-in page.

SOURCE: hi my gmail page lost 'sign out' button

Look in the top right hand corner of your GMail home page when you are signed in.
You should see your email name up there with a down arrow beside it.
Click on the down arrow and select SIGN OUT.

Then next time you sign in to GMail make sure you UNCHECK the STAY SIGNED IN box underneath the username and password boxes on the GMail sign in page.

How do I add another Gmail address to my computer?

Hi Richard
following is a cut & past information from Google and I hope it helps in your quest.

Adding Gmail
If you add Gmail to your Google Account, your account's primary username will permanently change to yourusername@gmail.com.
After you add Gmail, the original email address associated with your account will become your alternate email address. If you have verified your original email address before adding Gmail, you will be able to sign in using this email address.

Adding Gmail to an existing Google Account

Go to mail.google.com.
Click Sign up for Gmail.
At the top of the page, click If you already have a Google Account, you can sign in here. You'll be redirected to a sign-in page.
Use your existing Google Account username and password to sign in. On the next page, you'll see a shortened Gmail sign-up form where you can choose your Gmail username
