Duplex printing with card stock paper jams in back on Brother MFC-9840CDW

I would try manually inserting the paper for the back side. Most of the time it's best to wait a few minutes before trying the back side to give it time to cool so it will lie flat.

Paper jam at exit

Besides setting it for card stock both in its internal menu and the pc's menu, are you setting it for legal size paper? The timing will be thrown off if that step is missed. It will stop pulling the paper because it is looking for 8.5 x 11" paper. I would test with less expensive card stock to also make sure a shard of the decal paper did not get left in the paper path. The card stock should help dislodge any debris in the paper path.

Paper thickness error

From page 88 of the User Guide.

For your printer you can use the following types of paper and other media.

??Ā  Size

• Standard paper: From Legal size (8.5 x 14.0 in.) to A5 size (5.83 x 8.27 in.)
• Non-standard paper: From 3.54 x 4.72 in. to 8.5 x 23.0 in.
• Others: Envelopes (US Com. #10 and European DL)

Important ?Āžā‚Ŗ Do not use the following types of paper. Using such paper will not only produce unsatisfactory results, but can also cause the printer to jam or malfunction.

• Folded, curled or wrinkled paper
• Wet paper
• Paper that is too thin (less than 17 lb.)
Paper that is too thick* (more than 28 lb.)
• Picture postcards
• Postcards with an affixed photo or sticker
• Envelopes with a double flap
• Sealed envelopes
• Envelopes with an embossed or treated surface
• Paper with holes (such as loose-leaf paper)
* non-Canon branded paper

??Ā  Weight

17 to 28 lb.

Do not use paper heavier than this (except for supported Canon-brand media), as it
could jam in the printer.
??Ā  Types

The following types of media can be used. For more information about the media and the
printing methods, refer to the specific sections.

Plain paper: Refer to the printed Quick Start Guide.
?ĀžĀ” Envelopes
?ĀžĀ” High Resolution Paper HR-101N
?ĀžĀ” Glossy Photo Paper GP-301/GP-301N
?ĀžĀ” High Gloss Photo Film HG-201
?ĀžĀ” Glossy Photo Cards FM-101
?ĀžĀ” Photo Paper Pro PR-101
?ĀžĀ” Photo Paper Pro PC-101S
?ĀžĀ” Transparencies CF-102
?ĀžĀ” T-Shirt Transfers TR-201
?ĀžĀ” Banner Paper

If you are receiving a paper thickness error (are there lights flashing?) is the thickness greater than 28 lbs? You can refer to the User's Guide beginning on page 140 for infomration on error light patterns.

Have you set the Paper Thickness Lever properly? Looking at the printer from the front; To the left for normal paper; To the right for thicker product (e.g. envelopes, t-shirt transfers, banner paper).

Trust this is helpful. Please vote. :)

When i use card stock it acts like a paper jam, with a little help it prints fine

Make sure that you are setting the proper paper type before printing any paper other than "plain" by going into the printer's "properties/preferences". If it's thick paper, choose "thick" or "heavy" or "cardstock" in the drop-down arrow.

Unless, of course, your printer doesn't accept cardstock at all, then you're out of luck.

Hope this helps. :)

Trying to print on card stock paper and get a paper jam Is there a setting for printing on card stock paper?

Hi Fuller90

Read your issue.
1. Kindly check the thickness of the paper. If the thickness of the paper or the card is more then normal paper, you will experience the paper Jam on this printer model.
2. You can try this step..... Take the Power cable out from the printer.
3. Press and hold down the power button for 35 seconds.
4. Now release the button and then plugin the power cable.
5. Check your issue.

Photo paper jam what thickness of photo paper should i use for a hp photosmart 8250 i keep getting jammed up and think the paper is to thick

Be sure and check the printing properties before printing. make sure that you specify the kind and thickness of the paper. This way the printer expects that thickness when printing. Sometimes, glossy paper makes the printer jam easily. Try putting around 25 regular paper on bottom of special paper and see if that helps.

Paper keeps jamming

To print card stock you must us the manual slot in the front of the printer and feed one at a time. Also open the back flap door so the card stock can exit out the back instead of trying to bend around for the try. That will give you the staight paper path that your thick stock needs.
