The dx 2527 has a fine ransmitter. it is choked out by the factory to pass FCC reg's. With about $4.00 in parts from the rat shack you can really make it talk. my personal 2527 dead keys around 3 watts with around 45 50 watts on rms with bird meter around 60 with crappy dosey.
Bad transmitter. You can: 1) take it to a repair shop 2) get a new radio 3) repair the transmitter with a stock replacement transmitter 4) check the inside of the radio, make sure everything is where it's supposed to be 5) make sure that you are using the correct power supply for the unit
If the problem is too extensive and you consider getting a new radio similar to the 148GTL, try the Galaxy DX 2527. It's a BIG radio. But it's production was discontinued. If you can't find a Galaxy DX 2527, try a Galaxy DX 2517, it's similar to the DX 2527, but with less features, but has great sound, I get nothing but good comments when I talk on it. The DX 2527 has an okay transmitter, it doesn't sound all too good by itself, so that's why you have the echo and robot voice changer options.

without more detailed info, quick suggestion - thermal fault, if all TX audio works when in this fault condition, it may be fair to assume audio IC is ok and check electrolytic capacitors and dry joints.
You're most likely getting lots of RF feedback from the metal cab of your truck, combined with the real sensitive nature of the amplified Turner mike.I would put an old original Cobra (coffin mike) handheld mike or a Astatic Roadking 56 (RK56) on it.They are really hard to beat, especially when you have lots of feedback & squealing. I also have a 148GTL (malaysia made) that has a Turner +3 deskmike & it squeals in my truck but not in the house. The 148GTL has given me better service than ANY other radio I've owned. It has 120 channels (freeband) & upper & lower sideband. I think mine is a 5pin Cobra-type plug-in. Try a simpler mike & good luck. Squirrly
Hi, my name is John. Welcome to Fixya. Try turning your MIC GAIN to MAX and see what happens. Let me know how it goes, may have further. Thanks for choosing Fixya.....John
ALLways start with ground. Find ground on radio pin with ohm meter. EVERY thing operates off ground. Once you find ground on radio....solder your ground wire on mike cord to corresponding # on mike jack. Once you have ground on proper pin then all else is elementary......use ohm meter to see which wires are TX and RX on mike.....last wire is audio wire.
Check all of the switchs on the radio,
if all are were they belong then the meter is
bad,but you need to try to find someone to
give you a radio check onair.
Maybe this helped.
most likely been fiddled with and out of alignment. If you have a freq counter and a volt meter you could possibly fix it yourself. look at cbtricks.com for the aligment procedure.
