Long storeage of troybuilt gen

Have a gen purch 2yrs ago, used then, for 3 days, fortunately haven't had to use since.ran it last yr w/gas stabilizer, shut off gas,let it run dry, then drained tank completely (tank is plastic so i'm not worried about rust ) iread somewhere that its a good idea to pull plug, pour 1-2 oz oil into cyl, turn over slowly, w/pull cord, leaving plug out to coat rings & cyl w/oil. is this a good idea,& if so,how long should this be god for ? unit kept in outside garage, reasonably dry, hardly ever opened in winter. thanks for your time & advice. jerry

I have had my generator for 6 years. i use fuel stabilizer and do as you did in shutting it down. I do not drain my fuel but it doesnt hurt. I would question putting anything in the engine that could in time cause problems. I use synthetic oil, this should coat all internal parts well enough to not need extra oil. I do start the engine a few times a year and let it run 5 mins. or so. I live in SW La so having a generator that doesnt work during hurricane season is not a good idea. The steps you are taking should keep your engine fine. It is a good idea to run it and use the power every now and then. This keeps the magnets in the generator in good shape.

Dude,

Do not attempt to fix this yourself. Please contact your local authorized service center for assistance.

You may contact the manufacturer, download manuals, check fuel/oil ratios, order parts, find your local service center, and view other resources using these links:

I ran out of gas / will not start now

Its very possible the pump is cooked. The pump uses gasoline to keep it cool and lubed. No gas makes it get very hot just before you run out of gas.
The screen in front of the pump may be clogged up too.

I bought a john deere riding mower less than a year ago. i used it last season without any problems. I think the last time i used it, was in august 2010. winter came about, the grass wasn't growing, so...

First, I've had a motorcycle for almost 50 years and have never drained the gas. At one point it was not used for 3 years. It started, I added gas and it ran fine.
Second, next time you are running the machine and it begins to stall, immediately loosen the gas cap. If it starts to run good again, drill out the air vents on the cap.

Motor stopped running days after move

Unfortunatly in most cases it is more expensive to fix than replace. A compressor change is at least 3 hours. The other cost include the compressor, drier, recovery machine, recovery cylinder, silver sodder, torch fees, and so on. The compressor will likely cost around $300. A used fridge in the paper can cost less then $200. Please let me know if you need anymore information.

3 yr old model purchased used, not heating up

I would be concerned that when they disconnected gas flex from dryer, that the fitting on dryer turned with the pipe that goes into dryer and that it came undone.
