I have a linksys wireless router connected to my dsl and wanted to extend its wireless connection to another far place outside my house. So i bought another linksys wireless router to connect it to the first wireless router.
What shall I do in terms of IP address, etc (all technical things which I am not very familiar with) so that I can connect to the second wireless router. On the first, I can connect using OBTAIN in the IP address option. I can browse the net in the process. On the second, I cannot. I tried connecting a cross over cable from wifi1 port1 to wifi2 WAN port. Then I also tried connecting cross over from wifi1 port1 to wifi2 port1. This time it worked bu intermittently, after my friend entered IP addresses. But he is not here anymore.
How do I set up the 2 wifi routers so I can extend the connection?
Thanks

As a wi-fi technician, it is not recommended to extend the wireless signal using another wireless router. Having 2 wireless routers will just cause conflict to your wireless network. If you still have time, please replace the router with a Wireless Access Point (WAP54G). WAP is easy to setup. Just plug it to one of the ethernet port on the back of your router and run the setup CD that came with it, that's it. It'll extend your signal.
If your main concern is just extending your wireless signal to another far place outside your house, Wireless Range Expander (WRE54G) can also be used. It is a similar device like an Access Point but its signal extending capability is more powerful than Access Point. Its also easy to setup, just the setup CD that came with it.
You can also contact the Linksys toll free tech support # at 1800-3267114 if you wanna resolve the issue over the phone. Hope that helps.
