Open the front cover, pull out the process unit... then unscrew the left side of the waste disposal tank (the opposite end of the toner cartridge)

Open the front door, waste toner container is visible, empty and clean, reinstall. You may have to turn main power on and off.

Waste toner near full?

You can empty the waste chamber on the image unit by removing the screw from both ends of the unit, pull the ends off and empty it out. It's a messy job so have a good plastic bag and a toner vacuum if possible. The message might stay on awhile but will disappear with time. The alternative is a new image unit.$$$$$$

My Kyocera KM 1820 is saying there is toner overflow that needs to be emptied?

Open the front cover and locate the waste toner bottle. Empty it out and see if that corrects the problem. If that doesn't work, clean the bottle after emptying it. If the doesn't work, replace the waste toner bottle with a new one.

How does the copy quality look?

KYOCERA CS-1820 ERROR CODE C7990

Apologies for the late reply. This is a waste toner full problem. Pull out the process unit (in case you don't know, it's the big black unit where you fit your toner into, also the one that you need to remove to check for paper jams. Turn it around so that the side where the toner fits is furthest away from you. Now on the side closest to you, on both the left and right hand side are two small covers, each fastened with 1 screw, hidden in deep holes. Remove these screws and covers, and empty the toner inside.

Be advised that this is a very messy job. Also, after you've removed these covers and you turn the unit on its side, the toner may not fall out. in this case stick a screwdriver or something in there to loosen the toner.

When done, refit the covers, place the unit back into the machine, restart the machine, and thats it. If the code still appears, you've got toner on the waste toner full sensor, which sits just above where the waste toner part of the process unit is, inside the machine. you can take a cloth and wipe this. although this is highly unlikely, nothing in this industry surprises me anymore.

if this still fails, you could have a faulty sensor or circuit board, but again, highly unlikely

have fun (nothin like gettin your hands dirty) ;)
