There must be some driver you have installed recently. Try booting in safe mode and restore your system to an earlier date.

Would like to reset my ibm laptop it says my mircosoft online service is temporarily unavailable and my laptop is slower than ever

Hi and welcome to Fixya1

To reset the machine back to the factory settings, just follow these steps:
    • 1 Shutdown your machine and make sure that the charger is plugged in before doing the reset. Turn on the machine.
    • 2 Press the blue Access IBM button on your ThinkPad keyboard at the screen prompt. The screen prompt reads "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button." This interrupts the Windows reboot process.
    • 3 Double click "Recover to Factory Contents" at the Access IBM predesktop menu.
    • 4 Follow the recovery wizard prompts to initiate the factory restoration process. Your ThinkPad will automatically reboot upon completion.
Hope this helps!

System won't boot to operating system. Error 00170019200163

Write down the exact error messages ....... that you receive while the computer is booting Windows.
  1. Click "Start > Run Type "msconfig" in the field and click "OK." Click the BOOT.INI tab.
  2. Check the box next to "/SAFEBOOT." Choose "MINIMAL" to reboot Windows in safe mode. Select "NETWORK" to reboot in safe mode with network support. Choose "DSREPAIR" to reboot in Directory Service restore mode.
  3. Click "Performance and Maintenance" in Control Panel. Select "System." Select the "Hardware" tab. Click "Device Manager." Select the device that you added to your computer most recently. Right click the device and select "Properties." Click the "Troubleshoot" button and select the option that best describes the symptoms your device is experiencing.
  4. Click on all of the plus signs next to the entries in Device Manager to expand all the devices. See if there are any black exclamation marks on a yellow triangle. This indicates a problem with your device. Also see if there are any red X marks near the devices. This indicates that the device is disabled.
  5. Click "Start > Run." Type "msconfig" and select "OK." In the BOOT.INI tab, uncheck the /SAFEBOOT option. Reboot your computer. If the computer starts normally, you're finished. If it doesn't, reboot in safe mode and click "Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System Restore. and Select "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Choose a date on the calendar that is at least one day prior to the time that your computer began experiencing boot problems.
  6. Reinstall any software programs or hardware you removed one at a time. Reboot the computer after each installation. Make careful notes of any error messages or boot problems you experience.

My laptop had been working fine, then the last

Hi yes try this, if no joy come back to me.
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} To install new version of XP. Insert XP CD into drive, reboot pc pressing ESC button, or delete in some machines. This takes you into BIOS, change your primary boot device to CDrom, save changes and reboot. Select boot from CD once this appears and wait for files to be installed. Select the part of the hard drive you wish to use for your operating system (usually the largest) and select partition this drive. Delete any previous os, and reformat hard drive. (Be aware this removes everything saved on your hard drive, so always back up first) Re boot afterwards and reinstall operating system.

I am getting a blue scree error on my IBM Thinkpad R51 that says unmountable_Boot_Volume. It will not let me run on save mode...it brings me back to the blue scree error message. I have windows xp

Unmountable boot volume = The file system is damaged and cannot be mounted.
To fix that do the following:
1.Put the CD first in the boot order and boot from the XP install disk.
2.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
3.Select your partition - it should be C
4.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
5.At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r , and then press ENTER.
6.At the command prompt, type exit , and then press ENTER to restart your computer.
This takes a bit longer, but the system should boot back into Windows.

Ibm thinkpad how to clean it t settings otally and reboot factory

Hi, During the boot at the THINKPAD SCREEN press the Thinkvantage key ( Blue button ) it will launch rescue and recovery and allow you to reboot factory. This only works if you did not corrupted/deleted the rescue and recovery hidden partition on the HDD.
Otherwise you will need the rescue and recovery CD to proceed. IBM/Lenovo support should be able to provide you the CD.
thanks and have a nice day J-
