Wide black bar on bottom of screen

I have same problem, over 10 years old, only started when turned on, but does it @ anytime now . any solutions ? and this thing does weigh a ton. never had a problem ever, great tv, great picture, etc., anytime a function is initiated screen blinks on off at will, stays on for the most part, no other problem, but can this be repaired or is it time to buy a new tv ?

either you have the video setting of the television set to wide screen or you are purchasing "WIDE SCREEN" format dvds instead of "FULL SCREEN" format dvds

You some how have turned on the closed caption function on your tv, go to the tv's menu under closed caption an dturn it off.

There is an Aspect button on the Remote for the TV. This button will fix this problem.

Aspect function strectches the picture horizontally or vertically to get rid of black bars in some movies. Sometimes this is good....sometimes bad

You can change aspect ratio by remote. I hope it will be solve

Problem in the vertical circuitry.
If you have the know-how, check for "cold-solder" joints around vertical i.c.
Also, bad electrolytic caps.
Voltages ok?
Resistor values ok?
Replace I.C.

Don't tell me the yoke wires were off or gnawed thru by a roach!

Unplug the tv wait a minute .Plug it in turn it on see if that fix the problem. these tv are computers and can go hay wire.just like a computer ,some times a reboot will fix things for a while.make sure you have a good clean source of power at the receptical and your not having power spikes or drops . For Models: CC4352, CC4362, CC4393. Your camcorder has a wide format recording mode that lets you make recordings compatible with the 16x9 format. When 16x9 is activated, the camcorder records black bars at the top and bottom of the picture to produce the wide-screen (movie) effect. This is also known as "letterbox" recording. Do not use this mode unless you have a compatible 16x9 TV. When played on a regular TV, black bars appear on the screen. If the 16x9 feature is activated on your camcorder and you want to turn it off, press REC/PAUSE to pause recording, and repeatedly press DIGITAL EFFECTS until no digital effects display appears.
