Wide black bar on bottom of screen

I have a 32" Toshiba tv. It's about 10 years old. I have had no problems with it until recently. Now when it is on, there is a wide black bar across the bottom of the screen. All the images are crammed into a much smaller space on the tv, so everything is distorted. I looked for some time of vertical or horizontal adjustment on it, but I guess they don't have those on the tv's anymore! Just wondered if it is a problem worth trying to fix, or if I should just toss it. Thanks.

I you know how to repair electronics its not a hard fix. The worst case would be the vertical output IC but im thinking th its nothing more then a capacitor in the verticle sweep circuit The average cost to repair this should be around 75 to 125 bucks. Good Luck

Screen on JVC TV distorted

There is an Aspect button on the Remote for the TV. This button will fix this problem.

Aspect function strectches the picture horizontally or vertically to get rid of black bars in some movies. Sometimes this is good....sometimes bad

Black screen with colorful line going horizontally through the middle of the screen

Problem in the vertical circuitry.
If you have the know-how, check for "cold-solder" joints around vertical i.c.
Also, bad electrolytic caps.
Voltages ok?
Resistor values ok?
Replace I.C.

Don't tell me the yoke wires were off or gnawed thru by a roach!

Black bars in the picture

For Models: CC4352, CC4362, CC4393. Your camcorder has a wide format recording mode that lets you make recordings compatible with the 16x9 format. When 16x9 is activated, the camcorder records black bars at the top and bottom of the picture to produce the wide-screen (movie) effect. This is also known as "letterbox" recording. Do not use this mode unless you have a compatible 16x9 TV. When played on a regular TV, black bars appear on the screen. If the 16x9 feature is activated on your camcorder and you want to turn it off, press REC/PAUSE to pause recording, and repeatedly press DIGITAL EFFECTS until no digital effects display appears.
