SOURCE: LCD Monitor turns off or goes blank after a couple of seconds being on

An all too common problem with lcd's, you would think they would be more reliable after being on the market for years, alas they are not. See if it does the same thing on a friends PC if you are able; if so the you will know the lcd is faulty.

I've had a very similar issue on many Dell Monitors. Mine have been under warranty and they usually send me a new monitor, but I believe the issue lies with the power supply within the monitor.

Video cards that can handle two monitors at the same time have cables with two plugs on the monitor end.

If your video cable has two plugs on the monitor end, try the other plug.

SOURCE: screen goes blank after few seconds

Yeah, for most of you it's definitely the caps. The three that are 470uF and the one 330uF.

Don’t just replace them with new ones of the same type, they will just blow again. Use ones with a higher voltage rating. you can also use ones with slightly higher uF (they are just output caps for the SMPS). Mine are at like ~530uF and its holding strong.

If your having trouble with brightness there is a jumper that lets you change the amount of power going to the cold cathode bulbs. It is right next to the three bigger caps. it has three settings, 6.5mA, 7mA, and 7.5mA. it should be set to 6.5mA by default. The bigger numbers are brighter, but remember to crank your brightness all the way down before changing this jumper as 6.5mA with maxed out user brightness is the same thing as 7mA all the way down.

These are good monitors as far as stats and usability. They just have defective parts. I was amassed with how "defined" the picture is per-pixel considering it's VGA.

SOURCE: screen goes blank after a few seconds

Hi ,
The monitor flicker problem. The monitor when turn on will display image for couple of second then turn black. The monitor status led is still green. This will happen each time it is turn on. The symptom at appear to come from the inverter board.

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

Hello, I have a lg lcd monitor. w1941s model. when I start my computer, it work for sometime. then it goes blank showing only the LG logo. then the power button doesnot work. it hang up glowing. again

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

The samsung t240 syncmaster when switched on shows Samsung Logo then displays for 2 seconds then goes dark. I can barely see some settings to change but trying to change these has no effect. When I switch...

Is this a laptop?
This a common problem for monitors, especially on laptops. This cause by the inverter board. The inverter boosts voltage to light the screen. When goes bad they go bad they often work for a few seconds. If you look closely you can see the screen but the voltage is not there to get brightness.

Picture goes blank after a few seconds of turning on power

check if the back lamps are still on when you lose image, all you have to do is get close to the screen and make is totally black and if is not that means you have a back light working, but if the back light is gone you may have a defective panel.

talked to samsung TA about the same problem I had and the recommend to replace the power supply first to confirm a defective panel because a panel is quite expensive

My samsung digimax 503 has a white screen!

Oh my gosh this really works! Our screen went white, we hadn't dropped it or anything. The camera still worked fine but we just couldn't see what we were taking a picture of. We tried this solution and now we can see the picture through the screen perfectly. THANKS for posting this!
