I was hooking up a compaciter and didnt realize the compaciter had a charge stored in it. When tring to hook up to my amp, it touched the chassis of my amp and the amp has ceased to work. Checked all four external fuses hoping it just blew one of them, but they are all fine. Is there anyway I can fix it inexpensively because I have no warranty on the amp.
Hi, how good are you with electronics? Are you able to open up the amp and see any obvious problems? I suggest that if your not very good with electronic circuits, get a professional to have a look at it, as if you damage it more by trying to fix it your self, it will probably cost you more to fix it. It may be as simple as an earth track been burnt, but even that in most cases will force you to completely disassemble the amp to find the problem. It may also be the diode right next to the power supply terminals that may be damaged and in some cases that can cause problems. Let me know if you open the amp, if possible post some pics and will see if there is something obvious that stands out. Cheers
Many amps have a zenor diode in them that will protect the amp in the event of a short this diode is cheap and easy to replace. take the amp apart and look between the positive and neg rails on the board it will be there any one that sells them can test them if yiur multimeter does not have a diode check feature.
Wrong ohms and blew up the amp can it be fix
Transistors on the driver board have burnt out and i need to replace them but i do not know the part numbers POWER ACOUSTIC A3000DB MONOBLOCK AMP
The first thing you did wrong was buy a sony explode...those guys need to stick to making televisions, secondly ALWAYS have a fuse no more than 3 feet from your battery,between that and the one(s) on your amp it would be impossible to damage your amp.Also ALWAYS disconnect the neggative cable from your battery when you do any tinkering with the wires on your amp.

my friend your amp could be getting power that does not mean that it is working.the power only goes to certain point but because your regulator or other related component is defected your amp power supply will not work until the defect is corrected.take it to a tech and have your set repaired.good luck.

if you are sure its the amp. the problem is internal. but if your not sure, try a different stereo or source of sound to the inputs of the amp. if there is still no sound than it is the amplifier and it could be a number of things.

run two 6x8s on each of the front channels of the amp. then depending on the sub you can bridge it on the rear channels.only if its a single four ohm. if its a dual 2 ohm sub run each coil on each channel. 1 coil-1channel. the other coil-the other channel. amp should run fine may run a little hot since it will be doing all it can do at a safe ohm load. just make sure it is mounted in a well vented area. should be safe.

I have an explode amp that recently stopped giving any output,i was not using a fuse from the battery but the fuses on the outside of the amp are still intact and the power light still turns on,is there any way the amp could blow without the fuses blowing?
the amp hooked up backwards and blew two of four fuses now wont turn on
