My top loading Whirlpool washing machine makes a loud thumping sound at the end of the first spin cycle as it is winding down just before refilling for the rinse cycle. It doesn't do it any other time or at the end of the final rinse/spin cycle. It's not the noise that an unbalanced load makes and it doesn't last long - just as the spin is finishing. My washer is balanced and doesn't "walk" even with an unbalanced load. Does anyone know what is making the thumping noise? Thanks for any help.
I replaced the drive block and it solved my problem. (thumping noise at the end of spin cycle) Easy repair. Videos on utube show all the steps.
Remove washer cabinet (easy to remove)and check that "base pads" (there are 3 pads, located under the main tub)are not worn. In case they are worn (even one of them), you should replce them all. Good luck !!
