Sprayed Screen My 3 year old nephew sprayed our 65 inch television, which we purchased in 2003, with some Orange Oil furniture non-aerosol cleaner. Now there is like half swirl marks on the bottom of the screen where it looks like it has seeped in. Can I fix this myself or do I have to get a new part? If I get the new part, can I take the old screen off myself and replace it again?

Take a look at this relevant post: http://www.fixya.com/problems-solutions/t102483,p211196/RCA-P61927-61-in-Rear-Projection-Television.aspx It's possible that the cleaning agent in the spray has dissolved the screen. If it is the lenticular lens(the vertical lines) there will always be permanent marks from the spray until it is replaced. You can try a toothbrush, dry and carefully scrape the material out of the grooves. there's also the Endust Product made just for this type of thing, It's called Endust for Electronics, and I heard it works like a champ. Another option is a dry-cleaning solvent, trichloro-ethane, which you can find at many hardware stores. This will wipe crayon marks right off of glass without any scrubbing at all. Plus, it's harmless to most plastics. Also heard of a product called Tough and Tender, that should be ok with a screen. you better consult JVC on any material you plan to use though. Major problem is in case the spray dissolved the screen. Don't be hard on the kid, encourage him and he might be a great graffiti artist ;]

This is for SCREEN REPLACEMENT on PROJECTION TV's:

I replaced the screen on my 62 inch projection TV for about $50 and the the picture quality is good! Have a sheet of plexiglass cut to the EXACT size needed. BEFORE installation it MUST be frosted on both sides by either a fine particle sandblaster or by sanding it VERTICALLY on BOTH sides with a power sander and a fine grade paper.
If this is only an OUTER protective screen and the image is projected on the inner screen then DO NOT frost the replacement screen, just install it.

Yes the red tube is shorted. I will post a link to the site where I work as they have an entire AV48WP30 with a bad tuner they are selling parts off of including the Tubes. they also provide free info on how to switch out the tubes as a unit which is a fairly easy job. Heres the link.

I assume you are talking about a coaxial connector? If that is the case then you could use a vcr to plug the coaxial cable into then output from the vcr with composite/rca and that will plug into your converter.
Hope that helps.
Thank you,
Lee

Flat screen

Use distilled water and a microfiber cloth for best results. If the screen is really dirty, use a diluted household cleaner, such as 409, either sprayed or sponged on, then dry with the microfiber cloth.

Son sprayed cleaner on tv.

I have not a clue what to tell you, but doubt the cleaner is the cause of this. In any case the TV is so old you will not be able to get parts.

My grandson sprayed aerosol Fabreez on Ilo screen. It first faded to the set up screen. I turned it off. Now it won't turn on.

The tv needs a mechanical cleaning of its power module and that must be done by a qualified personnel to avoid damage of the set. Does that solves the problem?

My son sprayed my tv with cleaner, now i have spots on it , it looks like there is liquid in the screen. i tryed a blow dryer , it seemed to help a little on the spots. my question is can it be taken...

Yes it is possible to take this apart, be be very cautious. As the screen the image is projected on is VERY sensitive to finger prints or grease. Would strongly recommend using non-powdered latex gloves and kick all kids and pets out of the room while you do it, (you know they would never mean to do it, but why take your chances) . Depending on the model it may take tamper proof torx bits, which are easily purchasable from your local hardware store (Lowes, Home Depot)

Need to remove the screen on ws55859 to clean mirror and lens, it is almost 10 years old and time to be cleaned.

Remove front speaker grill(s) at the bottom of the screen behind the speaker grill you will find four or more black screws hold the bottom in. Look carefully to see the front keyboard needs to be unplugged---usually one or two different size plugs; you may have to remove the inspection plate located in back of the speaker grill to get to the point where they can be disconnected, with the keyboard disconnected the entire screen lifts straight up(you need to bring it up 3-4 inches and then it comes straight out(there are two hooks on either side that it goes into--when you finish line up a little and slide it back until it is back in place.

Clean the mirror with glass cleaner and the lens can be cleaned with a lens cloth or with a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on it.

Replace the screws and the speaker grill unit for the set.

I do this here for free so if this helps you give me a vote here.

Electric starters keep firing after I sprayed cleaner

your spark modual got shorted with the liquid you sprayed in there or spilled you can try unplugging it overnight to let it dry. at least 24 hours or you can take the cooktop of and get a hairdryer and dry out the spark modual.or if you wait 24 hours - 3 days and still not dried out you need to replace your spark modual but more than likley give it time it will fix itself.

Wrong Chemical Cleaner on 60 inch DLP TV

Hi There,

Unfortunately, I think you may be out of luck. If you spray a screen directly you are taking a chance at killing your TV. You're actually pretty lucky that it still works. Some chemicals can eat right through or seep through edges and corners and ruin the life of your TV. I am not sure if Mr Clean contains alcohol, but that is the last thing you want on any screen. I would suggest trying to clean it off with an alcohol free solution for HDTV screens only or calling Mitsubishi immediately and see what they have to say.. Here is a similar product for what I am talking about:
