SOURCE: on the monitor, only one straight horizontal line display on screen. How to fix it?

Sounds like it's not scanning vertically, probably not worth the money to have a monitor fixed. Time to get an LCD. :-)

HP 7540 crt monitor shrinks to a horizontal line

It would be more economical to purchase a new or used LED/LCD display rather than wasting money on an old CRT monitor.

Hello there is problem with my monitor LE2201W... there is lot of vertical and horizonyal lines in all colours mostly blue and dark red, picture is changing constantly, for second is OK after again blured...

There is a large board attached behind the LCD panel, the video enters and is processed on that board and distributed to the display screen, when there is a disruption in the processing it involves the panel that is tied to the main itself. If the video cable is detachable from the monitor and computer you can try to sub it for any change. Problems of this nature usually exceed the price of a new monitor and better just to replace it for a new one.

Hp monitor has vertical yellow line. Is this dead pixels and not repairable? Have checked all cards and cables. Line is permanent.

Unfortunately, your display problem is not repairable, except by replacing the display panel itself. What's happened is that something in the electronics built in to the display panel has failed, and it's keeping that column of pixels stuck on all the time. There isn't any way to get at those electronics to repair them, so the only cure is a new display.

This kind of defect would be something that the manufacturer would fix if the monitor was still under warranty. Yours is probably out of warranty, but it can't hurt to check your owner's manual or the HP website, and see if there's any hope. If your monitor is past any warranty, it's time to look for a replacement.

I wish I had a more positive answer. Thanks for using Fixya anyway!

  1. Connect an external monitor, check if display is OK.
  2. If Display is OK, no horizontal lines then your LCD need to replace.

I have a fine horizontal line running 2/3rd's of my hp mini note book.should i be concerned?

This could be a hardware issue with the LCD screen of display card. To confirm the same, connect an external monitor and check if the same line appears on external monitor. If external mitor works fine, then its a LCD defect. If you have same issue on both LCD and External monitor, then it could be due to display card. In either cases you may need to take to service center.
