High-pitched noise A somewhat high-pitched noise is emitting from the refrigerator. It stops briefly if the power is turned off. The noise is not a loud, 'running' type noise but a high-pitched hum. Grateful for any advice.

I have just moved into a new place the refrigerator makes a high pitched sound. It is coming from the back. (maybe related tot he ice maker).

It occurs when the door is opened, lasts for about 15 minutes, and then stops.

I have a Kitchen aid side by side. A High pitched noise started after I replaced the water filer and emptyed the ice maker. The noise appears to becoming from the inside-not back or bottom and continues well after the fridge is unplugged. I have a Kitchen aid side by side. I have the same problem and we just had the refrigerator delivered today. It is a high pitch, it seems to be when the compressor is running at the bottom. It does stop for a few minutes but then when it turns back on it is very annoying.

I have a Summit. The compressor emits a 3500 hertz frequency noise, which most likely has to do with the rpm of the compressor itself. Not as a mechanical engineer but an audio engineer, I can tell you this frequency lies in the range that is classified as most fatiguing to the human ears. It's super annoying.
